Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

I think it is funny that he is in their heads that much!

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

Only downer is in the last sentence. ;)
Five of the Colts’ 11 “questionable” players are now considered out.

The team downgraded running backs Joseph Addai and Mike Hart, linebackers Gary Brackett and Clint Session, and cornerback Justin Tryon to out on Saturday after the five players didn’t travel with the team to Foxborough.

None of the players were particularly expected to play, but losing multiple guys at the same positions could be costly for Indianapolis. The team’s running game doesn’t look the same with Donald Brown, while Brackett and Session are the team’s best two linebackers. It’s worth noting that Austin Collie made the trip, which is a great sign for his availability.

The Colts definitely have their work cut out for them on the road without so many key parts. They have won four of their last five against the Patriots.

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

As usual, give Peyton time and he scores

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

Now it's time for the Colts comeback that will come up just short. The final will probably be something like 34-28.

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

Wow, If Peyton doesn't under throw that, the Colts win but the Pats will take the win and on to Detroit

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

Good win against a good team. I don't know whether it's awful coaching or awful playing or both that leads to these fourth-quarter defensive (non-)performances, but they ended up on top. Big win to keep pace with the Jets, who pulled another win out of their a##es today. They lose that game (as, let's face it, they would have last year), and that's a tough day, with a two-game swing in the standings.

Detroit plays very well at home so this is a tough spot on Thursday. But in the worst-case scenario, they have a chance to tie the Jets for the division lead two weeks from today.

Also, because I really think they'll be better in 2011 and 2012 than they are now, here's a quick rundown on the 2011 draft choices, which went up in value today:

1 (from Oakland: #14-18)
1 (30-32)
2 (from Carolina: #1)
2 (30-32)
3 (from Minnesota: #5-9)
3 (30-32)
4 (30-32)
5 (30-32)
6 (from New Orleans: 23-29)

Just one more win and they'll clinch that 9-7 record I predicted. ;)

An interesting fact for today.....

With Joique Bell on the Colts, think he only saw action on the special teams, and Danny Woodhead playing today, it was the first time two Harlon Hill Award Winners have played against each other in the NFL.

Its not like the O was any better than the D late

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

True, but then again, the offense was playing shorthanded without the usually-dependable Fred Taylor in the lineup.:p

Coupla things...
before last Colts drive told my son that only an interception would save us from the family eating in silence, if at all.
The Bill Parcells model of absolutely needing to be able to grind out 2 first downs on the ground late in a game should not be forgotten.
The pass rusher disrupting Peyton was huge on that last pass.
Getting to see both Mannings do 'the look' after crucial int's was enjoyable
The Colts are missing a few players with injuries...too bad the announcers never mentioned that...they must be the only team with injuries
When Collie hit the ground I told my son "that's not good" you could tell he had a head issue again
Brandon Tate, when clinging to a 3 point lead, don't run the ball out from 4 yards deep and only get to the 15
Whether it is Brady or the OC, somebody is getting too conservative late with leads

Fragile Fred had a hang nail

Ben Jarvus is a wee bit better than Maroney and Woodhead is a trip to watch, be barely comes up to the linemans shoulders

Pats defense today was........not good.

I'm just going to re-post this now, because it applies. How do the Pats have 8 wins against some really tough teams when their defense is so porous???

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

This one had a familiar feel: the play of the defense makes you wonder how they'll ever make a stop, and then you look up and suddenly the game has shifted. Sometimes you're not even sure how and when it happened, though today the McCourty INT did stick out as a huge play.

Fragile Fred was even active today! (But he didn't play a snap.)

Also, Woodhead has been extended through 2012.

Nine wins as of Thanksgiving Day. Very nice. I don't want to get ahead of things, but just thinking about who they've beaten (specifically, Balt/Pitt), and the strength-of-victory tiebreaker (which could actually end up playing a decisive role), this Jets game in 11 days sets up as a monster game -- winner has the inside track to the No. 1 seed, while the loser has the inside track to the No. 5 seed (and perhaps a trip to Indy or San Diego).
