Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

5-1 with this group is pretty remarkable. The replacemernt of Connolly with Wendell at halftime was a key move -- "halftime adjustments" are probably overrated but last year NE looked worse in the second half pretty routinely. This year they've come out and done some nice things after halftime.

Hopefully they can catch another scheduling break this week and miss Favre. Yeah, he looks terrible and Jackson has started in the League, but I'd still like our chances better with TJ in there.

Interesting stuff here, BTW: http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/s...bout-safety-sergio-brown-with-a-new-contract/

The British are coming?

...is not what they said. Everyone from the Colonies considered themselves "British;" the riders shouted, "The Redcoats are coming" or "The regulars are coming."

:p

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

We dodge a bullet this week with Fox coming in to call the game. No Joe Buck. :) Brennaman is filling in with Aikman while Thanksdad is at the World Series.

Easy storylines for the Boston media the next month: Randy, Brett, and the Vikings; followed by Mangenius coming off a bye; then Pittsburgh and Indy heading into Thanksgiving in Detroit.

One thing that's stood out to me this year in keeping an eye on the games every week is that the 8-9 awful/horrible/putrid teams from last year have improved themselves, leaving very few gimmes every week. Buffalo stinks, sure (though they've hung in there at Baltimore and NE). Other than that, the two games on NE's shcedule that look the easiest are at Cleveland and at Detroit. Both of those teams are capable of winning. Last year, IMO, the bottom teams were much worse week to week.

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

Nice to see my anti-Matt Light campaign finally getting some converts. I remember posting this several years ago, only to have some idiots mention nonsense about him making the all time Pats team. Anybody who's watched him play can tell you he can't guard quick players and takes way too many stupid penalties. I'm hoping when Mankins comes back they reshuffle the line and send Light to the bench as a backup.

Childress stupidly mouthed off this week which didn't do his team any favors. Normally I'd be worried with our weak secondary even facing a washed up Favre due to the Moss factor, but with a broken ankle I only see him playing the first set of downs. Stop the run and everything else ought to take care of itself.

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

How have we not named one of these Pats threads after Light before, as a tribute to Rover? :)

I've seen several mock drafts that have them taking the OT from Mississippi State (Sherrod) in the first round next April, with the note that he can play both tackle positions and that he could potentially take over for Light.

Media is tweeting that Chung is dressed for practice. That would be nice. Initial reports/speculation said he'd be out 1-2 weeks.

that is with THEIR pick late, right?

Funny you ask that, because I was going to add that I've seen mock drafts with NE picking Sherrod in the top 12 (with Oakland's pick) and with their pick (hopefully late) in the first round.

I think picking the same guy twice is a bad idea. I'd suggest they take two different guys, one with each pick.;):D

I'd think if someone did that it'd be the Bills. Or the Raiders.

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

I could definitely see the Millen-era Lions picking the same WR twice in the same draft. :)

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

could certainly see the vikings turning the 12th pick from the raiders into the 14th pick. :p

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

MSP Tribune reporting that Childress is leaning toward starting Jackson.

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

Dear Vikings,
This is Foxborough, not Lindesfarne. Do not sail your longboats down the Charles River and throw your axes at us. We will not allow you sack our cities, demand tribute and abscond with our Irish women. Stay in Norway and hang hang as many thralls and make as many Blood Eagles as you want. Just don't try that **** here. Brett Favresonne is not the chosen warrior of Odin One Eye or anyone else in the Great Drinking Hall of Valhalla. If you attempt to land in New England we send you down to the other end of Yggdrasil, the Great Ash Tree that supports the universe where the Dread goddess Hela will accept your dead and use them to make a boat out of fingernails.
thank you for your time.

Re: Patriots 2010: the Year We Make Contracts

Randy will block a punt.
Randy will block a field goal attempt.
Randy will return a kick off for a touchdown.
Randy will kick the extra point.
Randy will kick a field goal.
Randy will catch 13 passes for 260 yards, one of them being an 84 yard TD pass.

Randy will have the greatest day of any player in NFL history. But it won't matter. Pats 27, Vikings 17. :)
