The U.S.A. win tonight eliminated either Russia or Canada from medal contention.

This game was terrible. But it worked out for us.

3-0 Final, Sweden over Finland.

OK, now I don't feel as bad about wussing out and not watching it.

Wait, what's this "us"? I thought you rooted for England in international sports.

He roots for all winning teams.

*Waiting for Hoven to wet his pants.*

Marty isn't my goalie right now. Not until after the Games. * Canada. :)

Wasn't there an U17 win in there as well?

I believe you are correct.

In one of the last threads someone commented that the US should be winning the medal count, because they are like the Yankees. This article mentions the budget that the US team has for the Winter Olympics and also Canada's Winter Olympic budget.

USA - 55 million
Canada - 100 million

I think it is just a U17 instead of the U18. I didn't hear anything about a U18 championship this year. I don't know how the IIHF championships work, is there a U17 and U18 every year? It doesn't really make sense to have a U17 and U18...

I can understand why you wouldn't have heard anything about the U18 tournament. You live a whole three hours away from where it happened.

Dirty, didn't you hear, I moved to South Beach. I jumped at a career opportunity of being a Sun Tanning Oil Application Engineer.

edit: Dirty, the iihf website says that the 2010 U18 is in Minsk, Belarus. I'm 99% sure I live further than 3 hours away from Minsk. They don't mention anything about the U17 where the US beat Canada. Is that an iihf event?

He might have been talking about the 2009 U18 tournament, which was in Fargo-Moorhead. I could be wrong though. :D

Quite amazing for a team of basically new Olympians and coming in ranked about 5th or 6th into the tournament.

Russia or Canada NO MEDALS FOR YOU (best soup nazi voice).

My favorite part, other than the US being the 1 seed, is that Canada, Russia, and Sweden are on the same side of the bracket. That destroys every analysts prediction for who was going to win gold/silver/bronze before eliminations even start. :)

Found this posted on the STrib comments section, and thought it was funny:

Oh, Canada
Bow down to Uncle Sam
We'll take the gold
You laid down like a lamb
With frying pans you tended goal
We scored on you at will
From far and wide, Oh Canada
We're scoring on you still.
God keep your nets
Wide open and emp-ty
Oh Canada
We scored five goals on thee
O Canada
U.S. with gold you'll see!

I knew it was in Fargo last year, I was talking about the 2010 tournament. :p

People were talking about tournaments the USA had won. You came along without a clue and babbled, giving the indication that you did not know of the USA winning in Fargo.

For everyone (including myself) who was rooting for the Swiss in the shootout with Canada last week, now is the time to be thankful. Had the Swiss pulled it out, we would be likely be facing Canada on Wednesday :o

I just thought that he was thinking of this win: http://www.timminstimes.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2246207
since they won it this year. I knew the U18 happened last year, in Fargo, but hadn't heard anything about it this year, since it doesn't take place until spring.

Curling Explained (FINALLY!)

If you're like me, you've enjoyed watching, but you don't get everything about it, yet.

Hopefully this helps.
