Holy crap I never thought I'd say I enjoyed seeing him play but he's on fire tonight. Jagr, Elias, and Vokoun all look insane out there.

Downside for the Slovaks? They get to play Russia in less than 24 hours.

Random question for those that know something about curling: does the 73-minute clock run while the stone is actually being throne, or just when they're talking / figuring out how to blow the match?

It runs from the end of the other team's delivery (I think when all the rocks come to rest) to the end of the current team's delivery. i.e. yes, while the stone is being thrown, and while it's moving down the ice as well.

Just like Belarus in the Salt Lake Games! They had Ruslan Salei as their only NHL player. Now look at them 8 years later! They have... um... Ruslan Salei... and... er... well... uh... those two Kostitsyns from Montreal... and... Grabovski. Great success!

Either that, or get rid of the pro players, which results in what constitutes a pro (wink wink) like we had in the 70's, 80's, etc.

Let's get realistic - that's not happening.

Remember the bouncyball Dream Team, and how no team could compete with us for (theoretically) decades? Ooops. The US made a mistake in braggadoccio there.

USA basketball got exceptionally lazy, which allowed other countries that did have talent to realize that they can run with the Americans after all.

The US team isn't all that good. I put them as 4th or 5th, with the possibility to steal the bronze if Sweden screws up and the US plays well.

Just got back to Minnesota after a whirlwind trip out to Seattle and Vancouver.

If it is possible for The Garage and BC Place to be a blight on downtown, it's possible.

Full trip recap to come later.

Just curious, can they replace Shuster as skip of the curling team, or at least rearrange the order so he's shooting 1st or something? Or are we stuck with him as the skip for the remainder of the tourny?

We're stuck with him. It is Shuster's team, he can't go anywhere. I suppose if he decided that he wanted to throw in a different spot, he probably could, but I don't know if that has ever happened.

And Shuster leaves his rock short which in most matches would have cost us a point...but Denmark is actually worse...so the US escapes with 1 point.

Statistically, Denmark's skip is worse than Schuster. That's unfathomable.

Lucky for Denmark their skip shoots third. The guy shooting last isnt much better it seems either. Unless, I misheard these horrible announcers.

And Shuster misses horribly in the 2nd end. Denmark takes a 2-1 lead.
