Pairwise Bracketology Part Deux: Playing with RHamilton's Tool

Re: Pairwise Bracketology Part Deux: Playing with RHamilton's Tool

As I also noted, Yale just seems to be #2 in the same line as St Cloud St. It basically all seems decided.

There are 11 in. There are 3 games that will send the champ and take a slot. BU and Michigan could each take one of the final slots with a win, but if either or both miss they'll go to St Cloud St and Yale, in that order.

Caveat - that's my read of the situation, not computer generated, so let me know if I'm missing anything.
My read, too.
has Western Michigan been eliminated yet????
Yes.
Congrats to Yale then. :(
Yale needs both of those to happen while SCSU can survive with just one. Why are we congratulating Yale?

Re: Pairwise Bracketology Part Deux: Playing with RHamilton's Tool

thanks..union 2-0 after one....watched michigan demolish miami and will flip between cc and wis in a few...via my sports pkg on direct tv....

Re: Pairwise Bracketology Part Deux: Playing with RHamilton's Tool

Lets see if I have this right? Others can qualify for different bands but these are locked in.

#1 seeds: Quinnipiac, Minnesota
#2 seeds: BC, North Dakota, UNH
#3 seeds: Minn St-Mankato, Niagara, Denver
#4 seeds: AHA winner

Miami, Lowell and Notre Dame fill out the rest of the 1 and 2 seeds.

If Union wins they are the last 3 seed, otherwise St. Cloud, Wisconsin or BU could still get it. Anyone else getting in would be a 4 seed(Michigan,Brown,CC,Yale)or (St. Cloud, Wisconsin or BU if they don't get the 3 seed).

Ok two games left
WI leads 3-1 over CC
Mich-ND tomorrow

Is St Cloud in
Winner of WI/CC gets in
Michigan in if wins/if loses Yale gets in
?????????

Re: Pairwise Bracketology Part Deux: Playing with RHamilton's Tool

It appears that as far as Yale is concerned, they're rooting for Notre Dame tomorrow, and the remaining CC/Wis game is of no concern.

St Cloud is in, based on what Jim Dahl said earlier, and some dinking around with RHamilton's tool.

Re: Pairwise Bracketology Part Deux: Playing with RHamilton's Tool

Here's what I'm looking at:

The top 8 seems pretty perfectly set up for attendance if the committee wants to really mess with bracket integrity.

QU and BC to Providence, UML and UNH to Manchester, Notre Dame and Miami to Toledo, and Minnesota and North Dakota to Grand Rapids is about as good as it gets. The question is, how much does the committee value attendance and how much do they value bracket integrity?

With QU now getting an extremely weak AHA champion, perhaps the committee will feel less inclined to 'protect' QU?

If Notre Dame wins tomorrow, top 8 is:

1) QU 2) MN 3) UML 4) NoDame 5) Miami 6) BC 7) UNH 8) NoDak

Committee puts 1-6 in Provi, 2-8 in Grand Rapids, 3-7 in Manchester, and 4-5 in Toledo, right?

If Notre Dame loses, top 8 is:

1) QU 2) MN 3) UML 4) Miami 5) BC 6) NoDak 7) UNH 8) NoDame

I know the committee doesn't want to put 1 with 5, but the 1-5 in Provi, 2-6 in Grand Rapids, 3-7 in Manchester, and 4-8 in Toledo again gives us ideal butts in seats.

Obviously I'm biased in this as this is clearly what I want for BC... but I'd like to know what someone without skin in the game thinks about this.

Tony,

Did you put a CC/Wi result with this? It seems to change things for me.

As an aside, the likely Rapids region if Michigan wins tomorrow is: Minn/UND/Niagara/Michigan. This, folks, is THE REGION OF DEATH

I've been putting Wisco as the winner but either way I'm pretty sure it doesn't affect the top 8, from what I'm seeing.

Yikes, poor Niagara...

Re: Pairwise Bracketology Part Deux: Playing with RHamilton's Tool

I have checked all 4 possibilities, and this much is for sure:

Providence: Qu vs Canisius
Rapids: Minny vs Yale or Michigan
Manchester: Lowell vs WCHA Champion; UNH v ???
Toledo: CCHA #1 (Miami or NoDame) vs St Cloud; ??? v Union

The middle seeds are too mucked to summarize simply because Notre Dame is either 4th, or 8th, and Miami is either 5th or 4th, depending on Notre Dame's result, so all the seeds get shifted. In addition, the CC result changes a compare or 2 for Denver, although not seeds bands.

2nd Seed Band: BC (5th or 6th); NoDak (6th or 8th); UNH (7th); CCHA #2 (8th or 5th, as described above)
3rd Seed band: DU (9th or 10th); Nia (10th or 11th); Mankato (9th, 10th or 11th); Union (12th)

I've been putting Wisco as the winner but either way I'm pretty sure it doesn't affect the top 8, from what I'm seeing.

Yikes, poor Niagara...

See my other post. CC's results affects a compare or 2 for UND and DU.

I see Niagara playing North Dakota in 3 of the remaining scenarios. If Michigan and Wisconsin win I think Union will get North Dakota and Niagara will get UNH in Manchester as it would be a more exact balance of PWR.
