Oswego Vs Plattsburgh - 2012 Whiteout Game Thread

Re: Oswego Vs Plattsburgh - 2012 Whiteout Game Thread

As Burghy says "Laker's I am your father!!"

Yes, I know Herb Hammond was there first ;)

When they skate out in those red unis I believe we should play "Gosudarstvenny Gimn Rossiyskoy Federatsii"

What do you think comrades?

Re: Oswego Vs Plattsburgh - 2012 Whiteout Game Thread

I expect the maximum margin of victory to be 2 goals come Friday and with the Lakers beating teams pretty handily over the last 5 weekends, I had forgotten how many close games they've had over the season as a whole. 9 of their 24 games have been decided by 2 goals or less - 10 if you include the 3-0 loss to Neumann.

They haven't had any 1 goal games since the break and have played in only two games decided by 2 goals since then, though. I was worried how this might affect a netminder such as Hare, being that he has been used to more comfortable victories lately.

Looking at their schedule, though, Hare has actually been between the pipes for more of those close games than I originally thought. The only game decided by 2 or fewer that Hare didn't see action in was the Curry game. He was also on the ice for both losses and ties. And 3/4 of the two goal games he got the W for were still only one goal leads in the last half of the 3rd period (Geneseo, Buff State, Potsdam).

I believe that the experience of playing in those games is going to come in handy come Friday. Hopefully he'll be prepared and that experience leads to confidence late in the game.

So you are comparing the Cardinals to the Commies, well the good guys won in 1980 and Ducky knows who the good guys are ;)

Great stuff Lou.

I enjoyed my time working on the hockey broadcasts and the NFL draft with Andrew Rohlin during my junior and senior years at Oswego.

Between my experiences at WTOP and WNYO, it has helped launch me into guest color commentary roles at the Division III women's ice hockey championships in 2009 and 2011 as well as working with the esteemed George Commo for WDEV last March for the Norwich women's games at the Frozen Four in Rochester.

For anyone out there looking for a cheaper college alternative to Syracuse and Ithaca etc, you really can't beat what Oswego has going for them right now.

Couldn't have gotten my job at MLB without WTOP, of that I'm sure.

The timeline seems to be a bit off as the game hasn't happened yet. Maybe they were documenting the line from Sunday that Mike posted the picture of in the Lakers thread? Either way, an impressive display of student pride/interest in the hockey team - especially if it was a Sunday morning.

Agreed. At first I thought "Oh crap! Did the game already happen??" I see what they were trying to do, it just came out a little odd. But the overall point is that WTOP has done a great job this year, and in year's past. And an important point that was mentioned is that this is all done with very little faculty support. That's impressive, even though it's crazy, IMO. :D

Helped that another alumnus met you on the USCHO.com message board, too! (yes I am patting myself on the back)

But WTOP helped us both get a launch in our careers in television and the media. Incredibly proud of the work the kids up there are doing now at WTOP and WNYO. They've come so far from when I was there 20 years ago. < 20 years???>

...I think the writer was confused with what Justin described as prior years with the game coming up...I think...

As far as HD goes...well...some work remains to be done...

Your 24 carat G.O.L.D. status is well established and earned the old fashioned way....;)

That is quite an understatement. ;)

But if it weren't for WTOP, I never would have ventured to that little alumni/networking event.

This was probably the fastest throw together for a video (less than 24 hours). My WMM has been acting up, and I'm sorry that I couldn't invest more time to make this less choppy. In spite of that, here's my small contribution to the hype of (arguably) the biggest match in D3 hockey this year. Hope you like it.

Looking back at the earlier comments, now that it has been mentioned, it does have a bit of a Cold War flavor to it...
