With the help of the Oswego Athletic Department and coaching staff, Assistant Coach Mark Digby made this early expansion of Saves For A Cure happen. Please bid on the jerseys and make this event as successful as possible so we can all do our part to help the children fight their battles with cancer. These kids are some of the toughest people I have ever met.

Re: Oswego to host Saves For A Cure game January 8th vs. Curry

Derek, will the jersey you are bidding on be in the rotation of clothes you wear to the office?

Absolutely. :)

Right next to the Selleck Oswego jersey and Mike Clarke Elmira jersey too ;)

Re: Oswego to host Saves For A Cure game January 8th vs. Curry

Thank you Russell for the write up! I appreciate all the support you have shown for Saves For A Cure over the past few years. You are highly respected and have earned that status through your articles and also the support you have shown the SUNYAC. Thanks again for going above and beyond for SFAC.

Re: Oswego to host Saves For A Cure game January 8th vs. Curry

I have to say I love these jersey's and can't wait to see them in person. The focus is entirely on the Saves For a Cure logo with no other frills to grab your attention away from the cause they promote. Good job Todd and I really hope this deal takes off to where at least all the top teams in DIII have a Saves For a Cure game.

Re: Oswego to host Saves For A Cure game January 8th vs. Curry

I keep going after Whitelaw's but it's getting way to rich for my Norwich assistant sports information director salary.

Re: Oswego to host Saves For A Cure game January 8th vs. Curry

Oswego Raises $3,650 for Saves For A Cure Foundation

Outstanding! Kudos to everyone who bid. Only two jerseys went for under $100 with the highest bid going to captain Chris Laganiere's for $255. Jon Whitelaw's #10 and Ian Boots' #11 each garnered $250 as well!

I was in the running for Whitelaw's jersey when it was in the low 100's, but then it became too rich for my blood.

Congratulations goes to Oswego Asst. Coach Mark Digby for orchestrating this and expanding it to Oswego. My hope is that this can be a SUNYAC-wide event in the coming years. Todd, Russell, Mark? any takers to help drum up support?

I'm confident this event would be extremely successful at a Geneseo, Plattsburgh, and Fredonia too.

Wish there was more I could do to help.

I made this post in another thread:

It'd be great if they could make this a SUNYAC wide event next season or the year after. Have every team with a set of the jerseys in their respective team colors and then auction them off with all the proceeds going to Saves for the Cure.

It'd be a really neat thing and a great show of unity for Todd and everything he's overcome.

Call it SUNYAC Saves for A Cure a weekend or something.

Re: Oswego to host Saves For A Cure game January 8th vs. Curry

Prez, Yes it is one of my goals for this to be a SUNYAC wide event. This was the first year of attempting to expand the event. I sent out an initial letter this summer to all but one SUNYAC school in hopes to get the ball rolling on the event. Fredonia already does a great job with their "Pink the Rink" program and having a SFAC game would potentially take away from that. All of the other SUNYAC schools were very positive in their responses to the letter but there were obstacles that their coaching staff, athletic departments and goalies could not control for this upcoming year. From my conversations with all of them, I am still optimistic that this event will happen in the near future.

After briefly speaking to the Oswego players after the game, it was obvious that they were happy to help and more than willing to wear the SFAC jerseys during their game. It is something that could be a distraction but it is obvious that hockey is different, all these teams are looking forward to have the opportunity to make a difference in their communities. I don't think their is another sports culture quite like ours.
