Both media groups are student run but it takes a lot more people and work to put together a TV broadcast which is obviously hard to piece together during student break so they let us have a few home games in the spotlight. ;)

As Mike said, both student media organizations are student run and student funded - the only "professional adult" supervision is the faculty advisor. WTOP's Hockey Night In Oswego requires a crew of 18-20, including talent, and a fairly complicated technical setup. When you consider many do not live in upstate NY and most have jobs during break to make some $$$, its hard to put together even a skinny show as we have done in the past for ncaa games that land during spring break - usually means staying an extra day. There are discussions going on about a solution that would benefit hockey and hoops coverage during winter break(there are 18 home games for men's and women's hockey and BBall during break) , but it requires some curriculum creativity and a few bucks...in the meantime we are all in the very capable hands of Mr. Keeley and the "New Guy" Connor Corcoran...

Just rumor, heard Whitelaw is slow healing with the ankle, and I have heard absolutely nothing on transfers?? You would have to think someone would be coming in in with the short bench they are running with?

Yeah....a high ankle sprain is worse to have than a broken ankle. At least with the break you set it and are healed in 6 weeks or so the high ankle sprain takes time and lots of it.

lets just hope hes healing for the stretch run..........yes they are thin on the bench and one would think they would pick up a player, but I guess if the player doesnt contact the coach ,ow well....

Just saw this tonight listen for a familar name mentioned by the announcer. LOL Might have a 2nd career as a MMA fighter ;)

Justin Fox is in there as well wearing number 19 in White although he is a non-factor in the brawl. Oh and Boots had both goals tonight with the game winner unassisted in OT as the Havoc defeated the Columbus Cottonmouths 2-1.

Just another tidbit I found interesting, the top three scorers on the Mississippi RiverKings are D3 Grads. Todd Hosmer (Morrisville) and Ian Finnerty (Brockport) are tied with 10 goals and 10 assists apiece. Matt Whitehead (Oswego) is tied for third on the team with 9 goals and 17 points.

Another tidbit the player that Boots had on the ice was Kyle Vandermale from Platty and Kyle Kudroch was playing in that game as well for the Surge. Oh and the goalie for the Surge was Dan Clarke Dylan's brother and goalie on the white team was Ross McKinnon from Neauman.

The Havoc goalie is Dan McWhinney formerly of the OJHL's Stouffville Spirit and a former Oswego recruit that chose the Pro route instead. His backup is Jonathan LaRose who Oswego fans should know pretty well.

And no Prez Hosmer isn't even in the top 20 in penalty minutes. However one time Buffalo State Bengal Dennis Sicard is fourth in penalty minutes.

Just back from the first day of the tournament, this is a good way to spend a Sunday. Lawrence v Castle was an even matched game, good goaltending on both sides, just a good hockey game to watch. Oswego v Plymouth, not so much. It was a crazy 1st period though! Plymouth was just overmatched, played more like a high school team looking to run someone, rather than picking up the puck, and their penaly numbers showed that. Should be a better match up tomorrow with Lawrence, their tranfer goalie is solid, with the only goal scored on him was when he was taken out. It looked as though Oswego will out skate Lawrence, and will have to work to get the puck past their goalie.

Heard last night that he is a no show....Also heard that there was paper work yet to be done....Time will tell.
