Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

The roster is up!

http://athletics.oswego.edu/roster.aspx?path=mhockey

Looks like we got a D1 transfer from Michigan. Zack Josepher

2009-10 Michigan State University CCHA GP|35 G|5 A|7 Pts|12 PIM|30
2010-11 Michigan State University CCHA GP|20 G|0 A|6 Pts|6 PIM|14

not bad 5 goals in 09-10 as D
Very nice, from what I read in these posts the RJay Berra kid is a good one, new dman from Michigan state GREAT stats his 1st yr, not sure what happened after, but im sure he will be a plus, and he is a Long Island guy;-))...the rest of the guys we knew about, and they look like they will be great additions.....any more on Smrke's injury??? Lets get ready to rumble!!!!!

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

From what I'm reading on the Michigan state forums Josepher is a solid player with alot of skills, supposedly he had a falling out with the coach which is why he didn't get alot of play time his sophomore year. He seems like a good choice for special teams.

I was still hoping to see Phil Brewers name up there as he isn't on the roster over at Bemidji

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

sent a few posts to the bemidji guys they said Brewer is on campus there.. he is not playing for some reason they did not say??? looked into Berra, looks to be a great find, was committed to Manhattanville in June, dont know what happened there, he went to Russia with the BCHL all-star team this summer I believe that is a top jr league, so should be interesting to watch, also seems to be a good student and a top shelf guy off the ice from the articles I have read.......more info on Josepher, was a top recruit for Michigan state, also was invited to the islanders camp last summer, played 2yrs in the BCHL as well, lead team in D-man scoring and made the all=star team, bottom line...HE GOT GAME..........good luck to them all

The bchl is certainly one of the best ones. Oswego just continues to load up with high end talent. Will they be able to put it all together though in march unlike the last two years?

As great as 2007 was...the more things change, the more things stay the same. I will admit tho..5-0-0 against Plattsburgh is pretty nice no matter what else has happened :)

yes they have some nice incoming players who hopefully will mesh well with the guys already there, as far a beating the birds it is nice but I will take a few more loses against them and a national champ banner any day ....the birds also have a highly talented class as well and the D1 transfer from last yr will play a full yr, think it was craig?? It will be a fun season for sure.....injuries are always a factor for sure, but NOT a excuse......lets hope all stay healthy, as stated b4 I think we have a bad injury already:(

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Just saw the Lakers roster and noticed there were 4 C's out there. Is this abit odd? There is usually 1 Captain and 2 Assistant's. Who is this years real Captain? Hope to be there on the 22nd to watch hopefully the start of another successful season.

Andrew Mather will wear the "C" and Boots, Whitelaw and Anderson will wear "A"'s this season.

I believe that a lot of teams are now using "groups" for Captains and Assistants instead of placing all the responsibility solely on the shoulders of 2-3 peers. I know Plattsburgh usually uses a group of 5-8 players as their "leadership group".

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

+1
I like this: "Four of the seven rookies are over six feet tall and the group averages 190 pounds to help compliment the speed at the top of the lineup.." Minus one Smrke of course.
ok what happened to him, just read 1 post about a ACL??? is he out for the season ??

I would assume this preview was A. either written before the Smrke injury, or B. They are just trying to keep it quiet. Or i guess there is a C option that the poster who reported the injury is wrong.

Always a pleasure writing to you from Campus.

As always and every year we will be covering all games. Starting with Elmira tomorrow night.

Go to wnyosports.com to listen live to the broadcast, or of course 88.9FM on your dial.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the home opener Saturday night.

For exact info on the Stan Smrke injury.... well you will just have to listen to the broadcast now wont you.

Ah I love cliff hangers.

See you on the radio!

Is there a ban on Oswego student media posting in here this year too or is that no longer a thing?
