Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

We got a lot of snow here but everything's plowed and the sun's out as we speak... looks like just a few flurries over the next few days; shouldn't be a problem.

No offense, from a townies point of view, that was not a lot of snow

For the winter we've been having this year it was though, no?

This is my first year here and my hometown of Rochester's had a worse winter thus far.

Sick'em Jab!!!!! We ain't had snow here for a few years now!! Rmemeber walking into Romney in the wind and snow!!!!! Man I miss that place!!!!!

Boy, I do remember WALKING to Romney with a bottle of Schnapps or Brandy
tucked in a pocket AND it was up hill both ways.

Snow? one time it started snowing on a Thursday so at about 7:00 pm they announced that they would be canceling classes for Friday. at that time we had a bar Called the "Warehouse" Near Washington Bl and Route 104, I had a snow shovel, guys paid me to use it to get a path shoveled to the Warehouse. By 8:00 the the Warehouse was full!

The Warehouse Burned down in 1971 or 1972 I don't know if it was rebuilt.

Hey...I've bumped them up to Colt status this year:cool:

They'll be Mustangs if they win tomorrow.

Those frisky Colts can play like Mustangs on the road in front of packed houses. Seems to motivate them (Away 7-6-0) This year they beat Elmira, Geneseo, Neumann and Fredonia on the road.

Does the storm of 2007 count?

We did after all have 3.5 days of school off when Oswego hadn't shut down the school in 20 years:cool: :D

It shut down in 2001 for a day, although that wasn't weather related.

It was partially shut down in 2003 due to an ice storm as well when half the town lost power for a few days ,but I don't remember if they school completely shut down.

But yeah, it definitely hadn't shut down for more than a day since 1999 at least (I have no idea whatsoever before then, heh.)

20 years might be over exaggerating. I think the '03 ice storm was one instance and I know the storm of '93 was another.

Usually the campus doesn't get hit as hard because it is directly next to the lake creating much more wind.

In 2007 when parts much of the area got over 8 feet of snow (some parts up to 10), there wasn't more than 4 feet on the actual campus. A mile or two down the road definitely got a lot more.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Kudos to Leimbrock on the Hat Trick and Musselwhite breaking out the SHG once more - it looked like the Geneseo sludge all over again early on, but this team's rolling. Should be interesting with KGT though: any thoughts on if he'll be back next week, or does Beckwith get the shot at beating Platty finally?

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Tough to beat a good team three times in a season - perhaps Beckwith earned his chance tonight? Good move by Gosek to make the change.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

watched the game on the net......oz looked slow and were not moving their feet to start....defense made many bad passes in their own zone which could have been even worse against a team with more scoring talent.....goalie was ugh...mville goalie played well but gave the game away with the 6th goal........offense was good, but need to crowd the net more and pound the goalie, he was left unobstructed on many shots.....not sure what sellick is thinking at times with the penalties, but will come back to bit him/oz in the *** sooner or later, almost did tonight........PP=SUCKED....again, crowd the net and screen the netminder, get the rebounds.......Pk good of course with the shorty.....bottom line, play like like against the cards and its 2nd place/1st loser for sure .......I hope the game looked different in person as I said I watched it on the net.....LETS GO LAKERS....

A tune up game for the Cards, for sure. It couldn't have possibly looked more ugly to the crowd after the first 10 minutes. I knew at least handful of people who didn't know about Geneseo, and the opening period felt just like being there all over again.

Then the guys started picking up the momentum and making the shots count - they looked like their old selves again for the 3rd period while pouring it on. Gilchrist was missing for the D tonight - I wouldn't mind finding out why if it were an injury or something. It was a tough night exemplifying poor defensive efforts, but it was a mark of a decent effort that if the goals can't be stopped, and down by 3 early, the Lakers offense can out-score the opponents at least.

5 posts to go - pleasure posting on this thread, and looking forward to an innovative name for the next one (something about "setting sail in the playoffs", perhaps?)

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

So, who gets the start in net against Plattsburgh next week?

If I were Gosek, I'd go with Beckwith, since KGT decided today to do his best Miikka Kiprasoff impersonation. Gosek has shown in the past that hem will stick with whatever goalie is putting up the numbers. Tonight, that was Beckwith.

What do you guys think?
