Oswego Lakers 2023-24...Light The Lamp.....Lets go Lakers!!!!!!!!

Well gentleman as it turns out that win over Brockport was the 1000th win in school history, so I guess it was a triple theme night

If you don't have anything good to say.....don't say it......thats all I can say..

Difficult assignment, but since it's Sunday...........For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. Romans 8:18

Ouch.

It was all downhill from 90 seconds in. Outplayed in almost all areas by a much better team. They were selling real estate behind our defense. By the end you almost admired them as much as you hated them.

I sure do wonder what went on in the locker room between the second and third periods. Oswego was like 30 seconds late coming out, our first goalie was fifth or sixth in line coming out (???), and the rest of the team and coaches straggled out while everyone waited at the face off circle. I was sure we were going to get a procedure or delay of game penalty.

The one good thing was that we held discipline (almost entirely) in the third period and didn't give in to the huge frustration (maybe that was related to the late locker room dismissal?).

For quite a few years both teams have been ranked in- or close to- the top ten when we met. This time Genny is sixth in the poll and we are unranked- and the gap was obvious on the ice.

It was a long drive home.

Here's a positive, Oswego hoops continue to roll....20-1/13-0....basketball school? How is the turnout for the home games?

Well as we say goodbye to the #1 seed we welcome arguably the most important weekend of this season and for next as we find out how many of our 12 seniors decide to stay(rocco and warmuth are grad students so we know theyre leaving). It is worth noting that not a single senior was a transfer meaning that this group has been together since 2020-2021 and have no doubt created some great bonds and chemistry. How many will stick around for 1 final go around and how many will leave for the greener pastures of life or even the pros?

Well no doubt we have 2 important tilts this weekend, thats why I am making the drive, that and its always a fun weekend come Whiteout. As for seniors coming back who. knows, maybe Ill get some inside this weekend, but of course will not be able to share, ugh...Several would be nice to have back but I realize coming back entails many things...Look out Bears and Puck Flattsburgh......Go Lakers!!!!

What a game sweet lord that was a white out to remember. Bad news though all 13 seniors are leaving throw in Dickinson and Barrett leaving over half this roster wont be here next year.

It was nice that we were on the winning side of a nail bitter. That was withstanding a very poor showing from the 4 blind and deaf mice. Coach did a great job of installing discipline for this game. Another big game against Cortland next week. A great thanks for the seniors with a bit more to go to get to the big dance.

For the lucky 3000 plus at the Deborah Stanley Campus Center last night we were treated to what we all wait to see every year. A great collegiate Hockey game. A shout out to both teams and coaches and the players who brought electricity to the rink last night. Our Lakers have been an enigma this season but we hope they are now peaking. A shout out to guest Russel Jaslow , we had great conversation, and then before the game started I introduced a defense man we had back in the 80’s Pete Wasserman. You know him as Back draft 21. Pete is a retired NY Fireman and his lovely wife Yuri travel to the OZ every year for the whiteout weekend. I was pleased to see Russell and Pete together. Drafty loves coming to his second home and my wife and I enjoy their company.

Mission accomplished and what a great matchup-as always- to watch. Defense did not look depleted and we actually got some snipes. Simple formula-when the Deb is rocking we win. Side note the black Platty jerseys looked, as the kids say, fire.

LOL

Although the pretzels are not Brockport good (though, Brockport rarely opens their concession stand nowadays), that are still very good, albeit on the small side. However, the problem with Oswego aren't the lines (I can usually time it to beat them), it's the fact they have these amazing chocolate chunk cookies. And even those usurp a pretzel, that's how good they are.
