Oswego Lakers 2023-24...Light The Lamp.....Lets go Lakers!!!!!!!!

Parity at the near top of the YAC with Genny Platty Oz and Cort, maybe I missed one....Should be a good battle the rest of the way, looking forward to going to Whiteout in Feb.......Go Lakers!!!!

Huge congrats to the Cortland football team for winning their first Stagg bowl and on their first time to the DIII football championship. To top their season off the win was over North Central the defending champs. Also congrats to NC for another great season.

10-4 what a game...DIII you going to Whiteout???

Silly question # 5. The bigger question are you. :)))

as of right now I have 2 rooms booked for the wife and 3 of my daughters friends, one is probably going to Oz next year ,so they can check the place out, barring any pop up volleyball tournaments we will be there, tickets are already bought for both games.....see ya there..

As the 2nd half of the season starts tonight I thought now would be a good time as ever to go over the good the bad and the ugly for the season so far. Also, feel free to add whatever else.

The Good:
The insane highs: I don't think it's a hyperbole to say that when this team decides to show up they're a top 5 maybe even top 3.
Brandon Milberg: Somewhat not surprisingly the D1 transfer is doing very well at the D3 level we now have 2 goalies that can truly steal any game for us no matter how good the other team is speaking of goalies....

The Bad
The very low lows: When this team doesn't show up it gets bad very fast. Losing to Geneseo 2-1 is actually pretty good compared to other Geneseo results over the past 5 years. Losing to a 3-8 team that had to travel all the way from Minnesota on the other hand, barf. If you're looking for you know who, they're in the ugly section.
Team Defense/Cal Schell: When this teams loses, it's usually because the other team put up 4 past them. This has resulted in Cal Schell having an .883 save%. We all know Cal is far better than that and frankly his teammates and the coaching staff have let him down this year. Considering he was sent home the next day, he probably shouldn't have played vs Cortland and of course he was the only goalie to play you know who both times the season where the team looked like a JV high school team both times.

The Ugly
Speaking of you know who, Elmira, freaking Elmira, enough said.

With the most difficult part of the schedule behind us, although not probable, it is certainly doable to finish the rest of the regular season undefeated and have a decent shot at an at large bid. One more loss however, and were gonna have to win the SUNYAC to make it to the national tournament. Go Lakers, Puck Flattsburgh

with five losses and a Pairwise of 25, you are probably already out of contention for an at-large… especially since consideration for an at-large already means you’ve lost at least a sixth game…

That maybe true I just remember in 2021-2022 we went 18-7-1 and were like the 1st or 2nd team out that year and the past 3 years theyre always at least 1-2 at large teams with 6 losses so if we can finish with 6 losses with our sos I think we can make it.

Due to the aforementioned inconsistencies winning the next 12 in a row is highly unlikely. I think we're back to winning the SUNYAC tourney again.

That was the most inconsistent display of hockey that I have ever seen by a Laker team. Play great for 5 minutes and they not only crap their pants, they did the bed also. This game has to be one of Ed's low points in his long career. I hope the word gets out if it hasn't already, to beat Oswego play short handed for they can't defend anything or can they score with the man advantage. Another 5 minute PP with no goals, OOOPs there was a short handed goal. Lakers PP 1-11, Concordia 2-3. Short handed Concordia 3 -11, Oswego 0-3. Special team goal totals Lakers 1, Concordia 5. Is there a problem here Coach???? I guess this is where maybe Coach needs to look in the mirror long and hard for answers???? To much talent on this team for them to be with this record.

In an intriguing turn of events that might cause one to raise an eyebrow, or perhaps even two, we find ourselves contemplating the curious case of Oswego's hockey team. With a roster that reads like a dream team, one can't help but wonder if the coach is, perhaps, not quite playing his cards right. It's almost as if he's sitting at a gourmet table with all the finest ingredients but somehow ends up cooking a rather unremarkable stew. The presence of six Division 1 transfers, a quartet from the NAHL, a trio from the BCHL, and a pair from the AJHL, yet still falling short of victory, does beg the question: Is it possible that the coach is, unintentionally of course, orchestrating a symphony where the musicians are playing different tunes? This scenario, rich in irony, suggests that having all the right pieces doesn't necessarily guarantee a masterpiece unless they're assembled with a master's touch.

I doubt he is playing with lines for they seem to be the same for some time. This is also for the d'men pairing. Last night was a perfect example of why you always want the goalie to play the puck. See Schell

Getting a second shot at Cortland should test this team's resolve. Trying to remain positive. Go Lakers.

Last in both tournaments this year. Seven losses so far, and we could realistically end up with four more before tourney-time.
