Oswego 2011 Playoff and Offseason Thread: Hips and Nips or We Don't Win!

Re: Oswego 2011 Playoff and Offseason Thread: Hips and Nips or We Don't Win!

Unfortunately those schools don't do poop for Oswego's strength of schedule...scheduling Conn. College atleast gives them a game against a team in the New England region which could be beneficial for Pool C/NCAA rankings.

I'd rather spare myself in the embarrassment of losing the opening game of my home tournament.

Well I guess that's why Coach Gosek is calling the shots and not us. :)

Also, if Oswego loses to Conn. College, they've got bigger problems than losing the opening game of their own tournament.

You are right on with both of these statements Prez. CC plays some decent hockey and I don't see many teams blowing them out but it should be a win for a team with National Championship aspirations.

Oswego did beat the Camels 4-1 when they played them in the first game of the 09-10 Pathfinder so maybe that was the trend Eddie chose to look at.

If you are worry about National Championship and Pool C at the same time, you are a real pessimist. To get to the NCAAs, win your league. Period.

Correct. But there isn't a problem with putting your best foot forward in case you for some reason don't win your league.

Right?

Or, like I was thinking, and your league is the: ECAC-West

You need to schedule your non league games to give you the best preparation for the league and post season schedule. That's why you play them. It has always worked well for, say ... Elmira :)

Re: Oswego 2011 Playoff and Offseason Thread: Hips and Nips or We Don't Win!

I am not saying that Oswego needs to beat Connecticut College to be a National Championship contender. I am saying a National Championship caliber team, which I believe Oswego is, should be able to beat them. If they can't beat them in their own tournament then they are in trouble, not from a Pool C standpoint but from a we are going into the second semester and still aren't on the same page every night standpoint. This is what happened last year, they were not all there every night and certain games showed their lack of preparedness for the post season. Playing Elmira x2, Utica x2, Hobart, Hamilton, Plattsburgh x2, Geneseo x2, Fredonia x2, along with improving Buffalo State and Morrisville teams x2 and a solid Curry team should have a team ready for the post season. CC should be a three or more goal win then prepare for another potential NCAA contender in Neumann or Hamline type game.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to plug a summer hockey event going on in Oswego that WNYO will be covering.

The 2011 Erik Cole Dream Big 3 on 3 Youth Hockey Tournament will take place July 22-24 at the CC Ice Arena. WNYO will be broadcasting Saturday and Sunday's games as well as running down the 2011-12 Oswego State hockey schedule among other hockey topics. Former Lakers Brendan McLaughlin, Peter Magagna, Kyle McCutcheon, Kyle Gunn-Taylor, Stephen Mallaro, and Owen Kelly are expected to be in attendance as well as NHLers Erik Cole, Joe Corvo, Rob Schremp, and Justin Peters.

Listen in any time from 8AM-7PM Sat or Sun if you get the chance!

I don't know why this isn't on here yet but WTOP made Sports Nation yesterday with the commercial where limer lays out one of the anchors. I was at the bar last night and just about spit my beer every where.

This is the original video but I don't have how they cut it up for Sportsnation and them talking about it.

that clip is great............BUT why dont we have a exhibition game scheduled, we are missing a chance to get a game in b4 the season starts....and I understand that no game is better then the rattlers.....:D

Are you saying it's better not to play than to play the rattlers(making playing them the worst option), or are you saying there is no possible game that is better than the rattlers(making it the best option)?

I would hardly call that a game. The Lakers would have won that without a goalie.

I was saying that we shouldnt pass up a chance to play an exhibition game....and playing the rattlers was not much of a game, I think the shots were 80ish to 15ish....ugh....

I figured that out, but it was such a great example of ambiguity that I had to jump on it :D
