Onward to Boston! Friar Hockey 2014/15 Part Two

Re: Onward to Boston! Friar Hockey 2014/15 Part Two

Buying tickets via PC webpage, you have no idea where you are sitting until game day. From the PC webpage:

Tickets will be able to be picked up from the Providence College representatives on gameday at the Dunkin Donuts Center. If we are able to provide additional pick up times, we will let you know. Thanks!

I purchased my tickets via Living Social, already printed them and sitting close to center ice, 4 rows in the upper section. Perfect since the sight lines su*k in the lower bowl. So the Living Social tickets are NOT "MUCH" worse, maybe actually better and $10 cheaper and I know where I'm sitting before I enter the Dunk.

lower bowl tickets for fine for when mookie was there to see Journey. had no issues seeing that little asian guy jumping around on stage :p

I think you're close to me...but I feel like seats are going to be a free-for-all.

Never seen a hockey game at the Dunk. Usually corners give one a better view of the entire ice.

Re: Onward to Boston! Friar Hockey 2014/15 Part Two

Since some posters are complaining about PC getting a home game, it got me thinking about how many times PC has played at the Dunk. It seems to me it has been relatively few and other than HEA in 1985, it hasn't always been pretty. I remember a game against the 84 US Olympic team (or was it 88?) a couple (?) of regular season games against Brown in the he late 80's, and the coffeepot games.

Does anyone have an accurate history?

I missed the debacle against Merrimack in 20044 are the Dunk, but there was a very enjoyable 5-4 win over Clarkson from that year or the one before.

Re: Onward to Boston! Friar Hockey 2014/15 Part Two

Bought my tickets through PC this morning after having no luck on ticketmaster. Single game tickets apparently went on sale at 10am but i didn't see any available. No weekend package tickets were popping up either. Buying them through PC seems interesting. Apparently I have priority because I'm a season ticket holder but everyone is basically being put on a list and hopefully there will be enough tickets in PC's allotment that everyone who wants a ticket gets one?

Getting down to more important things, does the dunk not serve alcohol because it's a NCAA event? If I remember correctly Bridgeport had some kind of temporary club membership you would sign up for to drink in a few "private" rooms.

All NCAA events are non-alcohol unless there is club seating or something like that bar in Bridgeport

Or if the NCAA, through PrimeSport, is offering way overpriced hospitality packages. Drink water, it's healthier.

Since when? To my knowledge, alcohol (or at least beer) was available for all Friar basketball games this year at the Dunk. Also in years past (can't speak for this year because I wasn't there) beer could be had at the TD Garden during the HE playoffs. The Dunk does have a bar/restaurant overlooking the ice as well.

Replying to my own post here for clarification. Just called the Dunk and confirmed that alcohol will NOT be sold since it is a "sanctioned NCAA tournament event." This supposedly includes the restaurant (Budweiser Bar & Grill) above the ice as well. I have to think this policy would also extend to the Frozen Four in Boston as well.

Since forever. There will no alcohol at the Frozen Four either. If it's an NCAA tournament game, no alcohol. League games are fine, so HE and Beanpot you can buy alcohol.

There was no alcohol at the Final four in Lacrosse at Gillette unless you were in the club section....so this makes sense.

Re: Onward to Boston! Friar Hockey 2014/15 Part Two

When the Frozen Four was here in 2004, I had customers in my company's box at the Garden and you had to pre-order the alcohol, you could not place orders that day.

Re: Onward to Boston! Friar Hockey 2014/15 Part Two

The NCAA even hires a crew to put NCAA stickers over the Bud stickers on the drink holders on the seats, they remove the taps and cover any reference to alcohol in the entire building including the Zamboni.....you are not supposed to think college kids drink, but the NCAA does have booze under the stands for a chosen few just watch the chosen ones coming out from the working area between periods
