Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

Actually, you're not far off. The new president has been on the anti drinking bandwagon pretty hard since he took over about 2 years ago. Canceling homecoming. Organizing van rides of concerned citizens downtown at night to observe the bar crowds behavior. Trying to crack down on move in weekend.

That has been in the talks long before Potter took over. I should know, I was affiliated with the people in Student Development that were trying to stop it and I was very vocal that this is going to backfire. They didn't listen. Now they wonder why I don't respond as alumni except for hockey events.

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

I have a flask, but I have been padded down the last few games. I'm not entirely sure I want to get into trouble so I think I am going to hide in my car and binge drink as quickly as possible so I'm not suspiciously drunk when I enter. Here's to hoping I won't miss any goals during my impending frequent restroom visits.

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

No matter the result, St. Cloud State should be proud. First game our goalie has let in more then 3 goals. (not very many shots though)

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

I called a great game and boy was i right wow

****ty ****ty defence from scsu, zero ability to deal with mavs forcheck.

Cant believe we didnt score in that last minute.

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

Whatever is wrong with our defense, they need to figure it out.
Horrible execution all around defensively.
I feel bad for Reijola getting the loss from a 2 on 0 turnover goal.
Last 10 goals from freshmen.
Hanowski and Dowd nowhere to be seen.
They shouldn't be proud, they should be embarrassed to give up 6 at home, especially without giving UNO a single PP.
We get a 5 minute PP and UNO scored twice after we take a too many men call that Motzko was furious about.
Prow had his leg hanging over the board but was off the ice and I don't know what the rule is on that.
Just an ugly game...again.

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

Well sounded like no one played any defense. Glad to get the win, sounded close during the last few minutes.

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

Even though I didn't think we played particularly well, we won despite:

1. Being outshot
2. Not having a single power play
3. Giving up a hat trick--to a freshman no less
4. Getting called for a major penalty in the first period
5. Allowing the most goals in a game all season
6. Giving up 2 third period goals despite having allowed 4 all season, prior
7. Allowing another freshman to get 2 more goals
8. Having a two goal lead halved, twice in a matter of seconds

Doesn't really sound much like a game we never trailed in, does it? I'll just call this one "glass half full night". Yeesh, this game was the antithesis of everything we've been about so far this year. The offense saving our bacon? St. Cloud is the best offensive club we have played so far. At least, they were tonight. They looked better on offense against us than the Gophers did, I thought. Just one man's opinion.

We let our foot off of the gas after Walter's goal early in the 3rd. Bad. Faulkner-not his best game.

Speaking of Walters, if he keeps this up, the words Walters and Hobey are going to start being mentioned in the same sentence pretty soon. He's now the 2nd leading scorer in the nation. He is just raining points. Nice way for him to celebrate being named the NCAA Player of the Month tonight. 4 more points and a W.

I thought the turning point came early. When you are the recipient of a major penalty power play you almost certainly aren't expecting the next two goals to come from your opponent.

I don't know what tomorrow night holds but the chances of my little list above being duplicated is zero. I'm gonna check the record books myself and/or perhaps email Dave Ahlers, UNO's play-by-play man, who is also the UNO Sports Information Director as well, and see what he thinks/knows because I am not sure if UNO has ever played a game in it's history without going on the power play. I'm not saying it's never happened, but I sure don't remember it if it has, and I think I would have if it had ever happened. Maybe I am wrong.

I would have thought that there would have been a packed house for what is a pretty important early season conference series like this one.

I suspect St Cloud is going to look a lot like the Gophers did last Saturday night against us because Saturday's game is now pretty huge for SCSU. Win or lose, we play well (read: better than tonight), and I'll be happy.

Prochno still had both skates on the ice on the first goal, making 6 skaters and a goalie. They just got them for it the second time.

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

The Mavs tried to give it away late, I think Morley could have had a fourth if he could've lifted it over Faulkner. Faulkner had an amazing last 90 seconds of the game. It will be interesting to see what either team has left in the tank tonight after such a draining game last night.

What was the deal with the hatless hat-trick last night? I will say that I didn't know Morley had one either, but as an opposing fan, I'm not supposed to know that. Walters would have had a hat on the ice if he'd gotten a 3rd

Just because they missed one before doesn't mean the call was correct when they did make it.
Prow wasn't on the ice, his leg was over the boards but he wasn't on the ice when they called it.

The last goal was a tip off of Hano's stick. Everyone in the building saw it on the replay. Hano pointed at Morley the whole way, he was very unselfish. But I think it explains why there were no hats.

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

Both teams could have had 2 or 3 more goals each easy. There was a lot of defensive breakdowns and cherry picking.

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

Was supposed to travel last night, but with snow decided against it. So instead I decided to go to the game and it was a fun and exciting game to watch which can't always be said when you don't care who wins. Talk about no shortages of goal scoring.

Even more Proud and Loud for St. Cloud tonight. Wins are a struggle to come by in the WCHA. St. Cloud still second in the standings pending the CC game.

Where the heck did Kato come from?

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

Yeah, and I like where UNO is right now. 3 points behind first with two games in hand, that's a good sign. Tough second half of the season for us. A great split for us in St. Cloud though, crazy series!

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

Our goals Count! Our goals Count!

Didn't get to see the craziness Friday but watched last night's game and both teams obviously had their chances but I think SCSU held the majority of the play and deserved the win. Game-winning goal was sick.... Hanowski loses the puck, Dowd right there to feed it back, Hanowski with a great dish and then Johnny "on the spot" Brodzinski taps it in. 11 of our last 12 goals have come from freshmen.... imagine if our upperclassmen start scoring again.

Re: Omaha at St. Cloud State 12/7-12/8

Fun series and one I will remember forever, got to meet Mike Babcock at the game and got a picture with him Friday night. He was there Saturday but I didn't go up to him, he was sitting in section 209.
