Ohio State vs Minnesota 10/16 - 10/17

Re: Ohio State vs Minnesota 10/16 - 10/17

I never said it was the difference tonight; you created that on your own.
The timing and placement of the post made your meaning crystal clear. Series thread, shortly after the conclusion of the game. You never miss an opportunity to take a shot at the Buckeyes, even if you have to invent the opportunity yourself. Which is what you did here.

Could be that I'm unwise to offer any reaction at all. If so, that's on me.

I said that going forward, you'd better stop taking so many trips to the box. I'd be more guilty of bias if you weren't the most penalized team in the country.
We're 5 games into the Jenny Potter era. I've had the opportunity to see exactly one of them. Don't know if "leading the country" is true, but it's not even worth the bother to look it up, given the small sample size. If the Buckeyes are leading the country in penalties at, say the mid-season break, that will be a problem that needs to be addressed.

In contrast, your rush to say something negative at the earliest possible moment, coupled with your long track record, shows your bad faith intentions.

What's up with two late-period goals by the Buckeyes? Dan's call made it sound like there should have been a whistle on the first, but not the second.
I would bet that you won't see a repeat in today's rematch. It definitely caught the attention of Coach Frost:

“I didn’t like that we gave up goals at the end of the first and the end of the game, but those are things that we’ll correct and hopefully do better [Saturday],” Frost said.

Are Saturday games on radio again this year? Don't remember what station.

It was on 105 The Ticket last year. Dan hasn't mentioned anything so far this year that I've heard.

Well, they managed to give up yet another goal at the tail end of the period. They need to keep their focus for the entire 20 minutes until the buzzer sounds.

Re: Ohio State vs Minnesota 10/16 - 10/17

I'm not even sure what this means! The idea that a rolleyes could be use in a friendly way is a new one on me. But maybe my emoticon is also inadequate. Sorry for my part in the disconnect.

my god, sensitive much? I made a joke, I assumed it would be obvious to everyone it was a joke and I added a bunch of emoticons to make it obvious even to the slowest reader - I thought. I am sooooooo sorry my use of emoticons didn't meet your exacting standards, chock it up to the fact I am really old and all this spiffy new technology frightens and confuses me. Relax, this is not supposed to be anything but entertainment and there was nothing offensive in what I put up.

Two quick responses early in the 2nd. Seems like the late goal ignited a fire maybe.

One of the odd things about being women's hockey fan....OSU has a premier recruit in Jincy Dunne, but she doesn't play and nobody knows why, and it doesn't even get mentioned

It is a very odd thing indeed.

I know there's a stark difference in availability of this type of info between the men and women...but are there possibilities other than injury, that I'm missing?

She's a very good player but when you lose 11-2, not sure that she would make that much of a difference. Would it be nice to see her on the ice? Of course it would. Having her and Sauve in the lineup would help.

Her sister hasn't played either. There are all sorts of possibilities, and because I have zero facts, it is silly for me to speculate.

Having her and Sauve in the lineup would help.
At this stage, Sauve might help more. Hockey is a tough game when a team has a goalie yanked every game.

Still, I hope everyone is healthy and playing the next go-round

The Gophers really flexed their muscles today in an 11-2 win. Ohiostatebuckeyes.com doesn't have a box score up, so I don't know who scored Minnesota's goals. Julianna Iafallo and Claudia Kepler scored Ohio State's goals. Thankfully, we do not play the #3 or #1 ranked team in the country next weekend. That should help matters. In regard to questions about Kassidy Sauve, she had some offseason surgery and will not be able to go this season, so you won't see her this season, unfortunately for us. As for the Dunne sisters, I have no idea why they are not playing, so I am not going to speculate. It wouldn't hurt to have them in the line-up and hope to see them back on the ice soon.

Including assists...

Hannah Brandt - 3G-3A-6 pts (career goals 97, 98 & 99)
Dani Cameranesi - 2G-3A-5 pts
Caitlin Reilly - 2G (first two as a Gopher)
Kate Schipper, Brook Garzone, Kelly Pannek - 1G-1A-2 pts each
Milica McMillen - 1G

Also, Sarah Potomak - 4A for the second straight game.

Re: Ohio State vs Minnesota 10/16 - 10/17

Dave, thanks for filling in the blanks for me! Missed you in Columbus this season. What a game for Hannah Brandt. Thankfully, we do not have to play Wisconsin or Minnesota again until the second half of the season! It gets easier next weekend with Minnesota State coming to Columbus.

No word yet on whether games will get on radio. As some may know by now, The Ticket no longer exists and have changed their format to classic rap. Hopefully things will work out and we can find a radio home someplace.

As for the goal that Cara Zubko scored on Friday, it was a matter of six Gophers being unable to find/clear/freeze the puck. I could see the puck moving around in the pile from my vantage point, and Krissy Morrison was in perfect position to see the play and correctly did not blow the play dead.

Well, we're quite a pair aren't we. By way of explanation, I'll admit I was stressed out by the parking situation we were facing on Saturday, and was fearful we'd be playing in front of an empty house. Not in a joking mood. Turned out my fears were groundless. Numbers were slightly down, but we had a respectable crowd. And regardless, I missed your intent, and shouldn't have.

But here's a hint for you. When someone says they're "sorry for my part in the disconnect," that's an apology. I can't spot a joke; you can't spot an apology. Yup, we're quite a pair.
