Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

I just took my lunch hour. I went to Ticketmaster and got two tickets for Saturday's game. I am glad I was still able to get tickets, but it's pretty sad that it is Wednesday and we still have not sold 800 tickets (I was actually under the impression that the OSU Ice Rink held 1,000 but I could be wrong about that). Having said that, though, it didn't really surprise me that it had not sold out yet.

It used to hold 1000 before they removed the original south bleachers. When they extended the ice only 2 rows of bleachers fit now and they're being reserved for the band and media. 800 is the capacity of the main bleachers but if they sell out, there will be between 900-1000 in there with the teams, staff, officials, band members, ect. but they don't do standing room per fire marshall's orders.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

I hope the team can have a good hard week of practice and play 2 OR 3 games of good solid hockey win or lose. Of course " WIN. " :D

I hope Coach has found his playoff goalie and we have good back up if needed. I hope the players all play hard in front of the goalies for 3 periods every game. If not , SUMMER will start after this weekend. :o

The playoffs remind me of the Olympics spirit.

GO , BUCK , BUCKS , BUCKS. :)

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Dont forget about the tickets notre dame will return on Thursday.

Them ND fans could sell the tickets as " SCALPERS " to our loyal Buckeye fans on game night. :D

I checked the weekend schedule for any video. So far no video links , only radio and live stats.

I will miss watching the games on Big Ten Network . com , I wish the Buckeye Vision would broadcast it in the old rink.

It only cost $2.99 to watch it. I S-Video the game from my computer to my big TV. I have cheap beer prices and snacks. I don't have to wait in line to " PEE. " :)

" GO BUCKEYES GO. "

If only our fans were loyal win or lose there wouldn't be any left for the ND fans. ;) Since the old rink is an even easier walk from the dorms I wonder if the athletic dept is doing anything more than their usual effort to get a bigger share of the student body to attend? No free admission with Buck ID though for the playoffs. $5.00 student admission.

Gotta believe that the visitors are entitled to an allotment, however small. At the very least, a certain number of places on the pass list must be involved.

Playoff revenue funds league operations. I imagine the host school is allowed to cover some expenses. But my understanding is that the "profit" goes to the league. For that reason I doubt OSU had the option to let students in for free.

Regardless, this was not the weekend to make a marketing push. Even if the tickets aren't moving as fast as we might like, they will likely all be sold prior to opening face-off each night. To the extent that you're arguing that greater effort should be made to attract students all season long, I agree. But it's not really an issue this weekend.

Note that during the 90's a sellout at the Ice Rink was 1600 fans. IIRC creating disability access cost of us some seats. I also wouldn't be surprised to hear that the amount of bleacher space set aside for each person has been nudged up slightly -- which would have the effect of reducing capacity.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

I would counter that it is of extra priority to have as many students there as possible this weekend to help motivate the team. The mental game is half the equation, if you don't have the mental focus that you need then your physical abilities are handicapped. This is known to athletes in all sports. If we don't have every edge we can to play out best then our season is over as of this weekend.

Since it's all open seating with no numbered seats it's however big you butt is, that's your seat. Just be grateful they aren't numbered and the width of the assigned seats in the Horseshoe. They used Twiggy as the template for who could fit in those. :D

I know. But they had to use some sort of a "space per person" number to determine the maximum capacity. It's my belief that 21st Century butt sizes were taken into account when setting that number.;)

Agreed!

If they did, in 2002 Columbus ranked as the 6th fattest city in the US.

Sooooo, there should be plenty of room for all of us. ;)

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Let's go " BUCKEYES " . I want another shot at taking Miami down again in round two. :)

Give me three games like the team played in there last game of the season and we should move forward this weekend.

" GO BUCKS GO. "

PS. Thanks to Buckeye Vision the games will be shown live this weekend. " KUDOS " to the crew at Buckeye Vision.

You are correct. NMU charges $5 per student ticket for the playoffs while tickets are free (covered by a student fee) during the regular season.

This really stinks, couldn't make the game as I was nursing a fever since yesterday. At least I heard we won.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

not the prettiest game ever but any win this time of year is a good win. The ice was terrible all night long. I dont know how many times the puck bounced over someone's stick. Dusty came up big on that 5 on 3 and made some key saves when it was 2-1 as well. As in most playoff series goaltending and Special teams normally decide the series and ohio state had the edge in both areas tonight(at least the penalty kill) IMO.

Tomorrow i would like to see them win some more of those 1 on 1 battles in the corners ND controled those IMO for the most part tonight. Halfway to mami 1 more to get tomorrow. Rest up fellas get a good night's sleep and come out firing tomorrow.
