Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth WCHA Playoffs 3/1 - 3/3

Re: Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth WCHA Playoffs 3/1 - 3/3

Congrats to OSU - they wanted it more. UMD played lazy vast majority of game. Most of so called big players didn't show up

Re: Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth WCHA Playoffs 3/1 - 3/3

Scarlet Scourge 4 - 'Dogs 2 on a last minute empty netter.

The toothpicks really helped to keep the eyes open so I could finish watching the game. I think for the most part UMD put OSU to sleep with their infectious uninspired play. This game wasn`t as bad as the UMD - MSU game a couple weeks ago but it was starting to approach it. You would never tell by the play of both teams that this was a playoff game. Outside of OSU`s play for the balance of the first period after the first UMD penalty, this game was terribly disappointing. They both looked like they`d rather be somewhere else. I guess I can conclude that Miller never took delivery of that carload of smelling salts a couple of weeks ago.

I thought Grapp played well and she made some good saves stoning Langen alone in the slot twice.

It would be a real good idea if UMD started playing at the first puck drop tomorrow.

Apparently the first ever playoff win by OSU over UMD.

Sorry. Was making a reference to Hanson's reliability.

Good one. It went right over my head although it shouldn`t have.

He added a new player to the OSU roster for the first period...Howell.

I was hoping that he just listen to the P.A. guy and repeat what he heard, but no such luck.

No, that is what happened. As soon as the PA guy mentioned her name, after an assist on a goal I think it was, he was permanently good to go just like a kid's slot car from the 60's on a never ending straightaway!

He was still struggling with it late in the second. It wasn't quite "Howell", but it sure wasn't "Hol-low-ell" either. He forgot the "l" sound.

Ok, I am slow. After reading through all these, I am finally figuring out that you are talking about our senior forward, Tina Hollowell. Thanks to everyone for the updates. Let's get back at it tomorrow.

Ok, one question for UMD fans. Why did Kayla Black not start in net today?

Miller said it was health related. I heard she had suffered a concussion a while back...if so, maybe it's lingering symptoms. Grapp appears quite competent...for the second time.

Didn't get a response from you to my offer so, in case you are wondering, the video quality was normal today apart from losing it altogether for about 5 minutes early in the first period.

Blackbeard, I forgot about the time of the game today! I was at work so I couldn't turn on the video. Had to follow on twitter after hours. I may have to fire up the video tomorrow! I look for your team to come out with fire in their eyes tomorrow. We'll need to play better than we did today if we want to be successful because I know UMD is going to bring their A game tomorrow.

Re: Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth WCHA Playoffs 3/1 - 3/3

There's lots of work left, but I'm very proud of the players and coaches for pulling off today's win. From the boxscore, it looks like the key stat is OSU's 3 of 4 on the power play. Keep it going, Buckeyes!

The Home Ice Disadvantage continues...Visiting team now 5-0 in this year's OSU/UMD series...

I am proud of the players and coaches as well, not only for yesterday's win, but for finishing tied for 4th in a season when very few expected them to finish that high. A point here or there and we would have been attending this weekend's games at the OSU Ice Rink. In regard to yesterday's games, Ohio State's special teams came up big ... 3/4 on the PP and the PK kept UMD off the board on their three PP. Should be interesting today, and it starts in less than an hour.

OSU 2 - UMD 0 after one.

Missed the first 15 minutes and the first goal. Anything different from yesterday?

Re: Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth WCHA Playoffs 3/1 - 3/3

OSU 2 - UMD 0 after two. SOG OSU 21 - UMD 18.

Hickel and Bramm out for the 'Dogs. Strange if Hickel's out as a result of that train wreck yesterday with Tarr since she was up and playing again while Tarr took a long time to get up off the ice and headed to the dressing room afterwards.

Looks like not quite the yawner that yesterday's game was but intensity is still lacking in the 'Dogs' play.

Will they or won't they? Won't have to wait long to find out.

Watching that feed today, Blackbeard, it's not bad. Might be $8 well spent if we can hang on. Should be a very interesting third period. I look for an all-out onslaught from UMD. We'll see if the "Scarlet Scourge" (I actually like that, very creative) can hold them off.
