How do the tosu fans feel about uni's that are not your school's colors? I very much dislike the uw men's bb black ones. Black is not an official uw school color.

I actually like the black unis. It's just too bad they don't sell those in stores. If you look closely, though, those sweaters do include our official colors as the numbers are gray with scarlet trim around them. OTOH, if we would have lost that game today, I was going to say to store those away forever.

Emma's Goal? Lasered to the upper left hand corner. One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

And Madison? She had me shedding tears of joy. Twice. I am not ashamed!

New banner going up in our barn!!

Indeed! Congratulations to the 2022-23 WCHA Regular Season Champion Ohio State Buckeyes! This game was a defensive battle between two heavyweights and it came down to the last 20 minutes of the game. Neither team could light the lamp in the first two periods. Wisconsin struck first in the third period on a goal by Laila Edwards that trickled past Buckeye netminder Amanda Thiele. Later in the period, Ohio State's Emma Maltais scored to tie it and that was all it took to get the Buckeyes offense going as Madison Bizal would add two more goals in the last minute of the game to make the final score 3-1. The Badgers outshot Ohio State in this one 33-28 with Buckeye backstop Amanda Thiele saving 32 of the 33 shots she faced to get the win! Wisconsin goaltender Cami Kronish stopped 25 of the 28 shots she faced in the loss. Here are next weekend's WCHA first round matchups.

#8 Bemidji State at #1 Ohio State
#7 St. Thomas at #2 Minnesota
#6 Minnesota State at #3 Wisconsin
#5 St. Cloud State at #4 Minnesota-Duluth

Good luck to everyone! Let's all play our best and show the rest of the country why the WCHA is the best league in NCAA Women's Hockey! And here's to every team staying healthy! Good luck ladies!

Loved seeing BIZ come back out after taking that puck to the skate and scoring the GWG and an insurance goal! Emma's goal broke the ice, and how about Amanda Thiele standing tall today and stopping 32 of the 33 shots she faced! Great team effort. Things didn't look great at times, but this team never quits.

It pains me to admit that this will be the first time I can recall rooting for the Badgers, in any sport. Then again, my memory is not what it once was.

There's always thinner to ease the pain.
Maybe Timothy will share his can?

D2D, thanks for the classy response! I was sweating it out for quite a while in this one, but the girls came through! Coach Nadine can check all those boxes off now. The WCHA Regular Season Title was the only one that she had not won yet. LOL, it's kind of old school, but some of us want to go to the OSU Ice Rink and welcome them home tonight. I can remember as a child when Ohio State won a Rose Bowl or a big game, there would always be a big crowd of people at the airport to welcome them home.

... Wisconsin struck first in the third period on a goal by Laila Edwards that trickled past Buckeye netminder Amanda Thiele...
On the video stream, it looked Edwards shot the puck through the wickets of a Buckeye defender. That type of "screen" always makes it tougher on the goalie. And yet Amanda almost had it. Bottom Line? Hats off to Laila on the tricky shot. I'm just grateful that Maltais & Bizal also made big plays. First to match the Edwards goal, then to win the game and the title.

Good luck to everyone! Let's all play our best and show the rest of the country why the WCHA is the best league in NCAA Women's Hockey! And here's to every team staying healthy! Good luck ladies!
A heartfelt Amen to that!

This was like watching a Rocky movie. The spent the first 50 minutes just surviving and then came out and kicking all kinds of ass. Also, how the hell was Edwards not called for a 5 minute major down at the goal? She comes into a scrum not even beginning to think about the pucK and just shoves a forearm shiv straight into the head of the Buckeye.

And this win belongs to Thiele. She put on the foil and withstood 50 minutes of onslaught to keep the team in the mix. Great performance.

Truth.

Also love the Rocky comparison!

Congratulations to tOSU on its first season title; from what I saw of the WCHA this year, I think it is deserved. Interestingly, UM got this crown last year largely thanks to BSU. This year, the Badgers made the tOSU crown reachable. A champion usually needs to catch a break or two along the way.

Very true. Particularly in the Women's WCHA, where the Champion's winning percentage has traditionally run very high. The Buckeyes won this year's crown with an 83% win percentage. But without the Badgers help last weekend, it wouldn't been good enough.

Quick Comparison With B1G Men's Hockey: The 2022-2023 Gopher Men ran away with the Regular Season Championship, and are considered a Front-Runner for a national title. Winning percentage? 77%. Drop that percentage into the Women's WCHA and it's only good for third place.

How about the Buckeye Men? Currently tied for 2nd Place with 55% conference wins. In the Women's WCHA, that's a fifth place finish, and you're on the road for the 1st Round of the conference playoffs.

Rocky (at least in the first movie) doesn't win the fight; Apollo Creed does.

Just sayin'

:-)

(Creed also says "Ain't gonna be no rematch... don't want one")

Touche! I'm not enough of a Rocky fan to remember which movie fights he actually won, as opposed to the moral victories. But it doesn't matter; you clearly understand the gist of both Eddie Schorr's original post & my reply.
