Dear Lord, I pray that the doctors and nurses are able to use their wonderful God-given talents to the best of their abilities to have the best outcome possible for a Hockeybuckeye's wife. We are thankful that he has been able to defeat cancer and we pray that she will be able to do the same. Surely hard times are ahead and we don't understand why these human calamities happen to us, but we must always take our needs to You in prayer.

Hopefully things are going well and the wheels are in motion to take care of this. My Dad was diagnosed with bladder/kidney cancer in December 2024 and he had a heart valve issue that wasn't really causing any outward issues but the urology cancer doc said he would not operate and remove the kidney until the heart valve was replaced. He got the valve replaced in February, then they couldn't get the kidney surgery in the scheduled until late April. What a fiasco! Imagine living 5 months knowing this kidney had to come out and the medical folks had no urgency at all. Talk about taking it to the Lord in prayer. Sadly he died in July 2025 of sepsis. No one could tell us how he got it, but the we think the chemo made him so weak that his body with powerful drugs just couldn't beat the nasties that normally you could. He was 85. Anyway, I pray the word urgency in your wife's medical staff's vocab.

Are you considering going to the game at Lambeau or will that be too much? You can cheer for UW to beat UM on the men's side.

I'm so sorry about your dad. The medical world can be so frustrating. My first wife died from lung cancer that moved to her brain and her oncologist didn't do any of the monitoring and follow ups like Ohio State's cancer hospital did for me. Also an Ohio State men's hockey alum from Canada, Gene Popiel died from cancer because he couldn't get timely treatment in Canada's socialized healthcare systems. Gene was Wayne Gretzky's greatest mentor.
Unfortunately I won't be going to Lambeau, long driving distances are becoming more challenging for us with our age and obviously we can't foresee where the wife will be health wise or how her situation will impact us financially. It may really mess me up funding our new arena!
