Ohio State 2023-2924 Sixty Years and Still Waiting for a Natty!

A much more competitive game tonight compared to the bloodbath of Fridays game. We scored early and looked like we were going to hold onto the lead until we were called for tripping and Michigan scored on the PP. Now I'm not sour grapeing but it was a bad call. I was right behind the glass straight on to it maybe 10 feet away and had a significantly clearer view than the ref had. Both players were shoulder to shoulder racing to the puck against the boards and the Michigan player simply lost his edge trying to stop hard. Those goal are hard to swallow when the PP was undeserved. On a positive note Michigan couldn't score on us this game even strength and the shootout win takes away much of the sting from Fridays loss. I'm very much looking forward to the series against Michigan on our home ice!

After Friday, grabbing 2 of 3 points on Saturday feels almost too good to be true! Congrats the players and coaches on the outstanding bounce back.

I also got to see and talk with former Buckeye and NHL player Rod Pelley who was there scouting for the Islanders. It was great to see him!

Well surprisingly two tickets dropped in my lap for Saturdays game. Hitting the road soon as the football game is over should get me to Yost right around faceoff. A long evening with the drive up & back but should be fun!

I wish I had read this before Saturday's game, I would have tried to say hi.
Yes, I played with the alumni band this weekend. Yes, the parasite has a hockey jersey that fits her. She and daddy were at the game Saturday, but she was in a Michigan dress, not her jersey.

Impressive game by your team Saturday. While I prefered the blow-out on Friday, it was an exciting game on Saturday. Better crowd/atmoshpere than I expected going up against football.

I'm sorry I missed you guys. I might have confused the parasite though saying Go Blue to her coming from a guy in an Ohio State jersey. LOL. Hopefully I can be there next year, Yost has such a great atmosphere for hockey.

Not a bad weekend for the Buckeyes playing at former CCHA rival Nebraska,-Omaha with a shootout win on Friday and a 4-0 shutout win Saturday. My only disappointment is no conference point for our effort.

This team isn't going to sniff the tournament this year. It's a full-blown rebuilding year, which we seem to have every four years or so. Already have two blow out losses (combined score 13-0) including one at home last night.

I know its not a win but they earned the 2 points tonight. They out played the gophers for the better part of the last game and a half of this series and could have won the game tonight. The Freshman was really good when needed in net tonight. Nice to see some improvement to end the first half of the season. The loss of McWard, Dobes, and Lohrei are really being felt but the lack of scoring is very puzzling considering who is back on the forward end.

We did well tonight but there were scary moments as the Gophers were allowed to move too freely in our end. Our best opportunities came when rushing the net with numbers which we hardly do. I think the one thing that really bothered me about tonight's game was in the last minute or so of the OT it was my impression that we intentionally stopped attacking and had decided to settle for a tie. That's the same as throwing in the towel.

Funny, I got the opposite impression, thinking the Gophers had stopped attacking and were willing to settle for a tie. The Buckeyes certainly had more gas in the tank whereas by the end of the third period the Gophers were running on fumes.

It's Buckeye week in Bowling Green. Let the games begin. Based on the B1G and CCHA league standings, it'll be a cripple fight.

I will have to miss the Friday's game at the Schott (wife had foot surgery) but I'll see everyone at the Slate on Saturday. Is Friday's game televised anywhere? If you don't have tickets for Saturday, you better move fast as the Slate is almost sold out.

Update: The Slate is sold out.

Update: The Slate is sold out.

Appreciate the updates. Looking forward to the full house!

The weather forecast for Saturday isn't the best. So far I haven't heard anything that would deter hockey people from traveling. Still, allowing a little extra time might be a good idea.

The Minnesota series gave me some hope going into the break. Hopefully, some of the younger players can step up in the second half because this has been markedly worse than recent rebuilding years, and I have to wonder whether it's going to be a bounce back next year like in recent years...particularly with Wiscy and Sparty having come back strong.

Satisfying sweep this weekend.

Fun to visit BG, as always. Cool to be part of the sold out crowd.

Joe Dunlap was on fire Saturday night. Very fitting that he got the GWG. Great to have #21 back in the lineup.

Don't look now. But assuming we can count the shootout win against the Gophers, the Buckeyes have a 4 game winning streak.

Fair question. The B1G is tough this year, and obviously we're still rebuilding. But at the very least, the fun is back. (smiling emoji here)

Great Atmosphere. Had to smile at the "Madhouse On Mercer" sign; a fun takeoff on the Chicago Blackhawks' "Madhouse on Madison."

I take it the Madhouse Moniker is new this year. Which is to say I didn't notice it last year.

Is that the Student Section claiming to be the Madhouse? Or is the entire crowd at the Slate fully committed? (winking emoji here)

I feel the same about that series. They played well enough to win both games and have played pretty well since coming back from break. Now lets see how much they have improved against a team that pretty much shut them down in November. One step at a time and that first step is to get a league win.

The Madhouse slogan has been around for a decade. The student section is called the Bleacher Creatures.

It was a fun night on Sat. Can’t beat a sold out Slate for college hockey atmosphere, I don’t care who you are.
