I thought we could have put this game away early in the 1st but got to get those near misses in the net. 2nd period we just looked like we lost our energy out there. 3rd was good but Michigan had strong D in front of their net keeping us from getting the kind of goals we're used to.
I think the guys are well aware of what they did & didn't do last night and will come out with more determination to get that win. I just hope they aren't too fired up to the point they may be reckless out there on the ice.

VERY disappointed in tonight's game. Michigan had their way with us on bringing the puck into our zone and controlling it there.
We just don't seem to have a physical presence out there and I thought all we had to do was hit the Michigan players against to boards or ANYWHERE for that matter to take them off the puck.
I tried to give OZ the benefit of the doubt the past 3 seasons but pulling our goalie with over 4 minutes left I thought was too extreme a decision. I'm just going to digest this weekend some more and see what the rest of you think but if you can't play your "A" game at this point of the season don't expect a post season. :mad:

The picked the wrong time to play the worst weekend of hockey. Brandon Martell should never see the ice again he caused 2 of the michigan goals himself that 4th goal Guptil just abused him and walked right around him off the boards no way should that happen. Now looks like a trip to Ferris unless they pull of a miracle next weekend in Oxford a place they have only won 3 times since that building has opened.

Wow. Did not expect a sweep at all. Especially in that fashion.

Still, giving up 6 goals in 2 games is not good. Perhaps this kicks off the magic run where Michigan will gloriously win the final CCHA playoff and keep the NCAA tournament streak alive? Hey, I can dream can't I?

I guess I do have something else to say, what happened to the lineup we had last Saturday to take out Western? Is there a problem with coach staying with what works? Last Saturday we had McLean, Lippincott & Johnson in the lineup and I'm not aware of injuries with any of them.
It obviously changed our chemistry. Oz keeps making adjustment all the time to personnel & lines. Need some consistency here coach!

The opponent is Ferris but the place is TBA next weekend. My gut feeling is that they will be travel to Big Rapids because Miami is still playing for a title and Ohio state has had no luck in that building ever since its been open. If Ferris wins one game at Michigan the then the Bukeyes need to sweep that series to get home ice.

Disappointing for sure. The boys have been playing pretty well. This weekend is hard to swallow but dont put your stake in the ground. Remember the majority of these kids are sophomores and freshman and they have and continue to learn some tough lessons that should bode well for development. Will the bye week off give the team the opportunity to recharge and go on a month long run? They have the talent as we have seen against Notre Dame and Western. Im hoping for a strong finish.

According to the team's Facebook page we have a first round bye.
 
Some teams are loaded with freshmen and sophomores too but they are still in first place ;)

Congrats on the bye. Hard to believe this is going to be our last conference series.

I'm fine with tabling the discussion; it's really more of an off-season topic anyhow. Also, as I've previously posted, the need for binding decisions is not at hand. Big Ten attendance data will be available when that day comes. That's likely to clarify things, one way or another.

But one thing to ponder: The belief that sellouts create a better atmosphere at sporting events is almost universally held. In fact, I don't think I've ever encountered a fan who denied this. To each their own, obviously. But I'd recommend thinking the issue a little more thoroughly. As just one example, if high volume of ticket sales is really all that matters, we should go ahead and have the Frozen Four at indoor Football stadiums like Ford Field every year, correct?:eek:

I'd certainly disagree with that. And based on my experience on the Frozen Four ticket threads, the vast majority of USCHO Posters would also disagree. But if you reach a different conclusion as a matter of principle, so be it.

We were letting Michigan attack the net. However the last goal he allowed was an unscreened wide open shot from just outside the right faceoff circle that went in top corner of the net over Brady's right shoulder. He was pulled after that one got by and it had to be tough for the kid getting yanked on Senior Night.

Correct, I was tired last night and overlooked that detail. I asked the Wolverines if they'd mind sweeping Ferris. lol!

We can only hope but even if the wolverines sweep the buckeyes still need a point and in that place its been a chore to get even 1 point on a weekend.

I have not read the details on this, but I take it Ferris State owns the tiebreaker over us should we both end up with the same amount of points?

The First Tie breaker is wins and Ferris has that. If Ferris gets 3 points without winning a game and the Buckeyes manage to win a game this weekend the next tie breaker is winning percentage in the series which is a tie. After that its goals for and against in the series also a tie. Ferris would win the next tie breaker which would be winning percentage against the 1st place team and they went 1-1 against Miami and The Buckeyes would be 1-2-1 if they split this weekend. So They have to get more points than Ferris to host.

Agree 100% with your first statement. I think the young team excuse gets a bit overused when it comes to our team. No excuse to let the 10th place team come into our building and sweep. That's all I am going to say on this weekend. Probably best to "erase the tape" and move on.

Sound like the best case scenerio for us then would be for Michigan to sweep Ferris and us to win one, but I WILL take a sweep of Miami if our boys are up to it. lol!

As our USCHO Ohio State beat writer, I apologize I forget to post on here. I will make an effort to be more active on here. If you guys ever have any questions for me, I can be reached on Twitter at @jjboggs. Is anyone planning on going down to Oxford this weekend. Should be a fun, exciting weekend there.

Heard some debate on Brady. In my opinion, he looked decent. He certainly was not his normal self by any means, but three of those four against Michigan Saturday night were not his fault. Bad turnovers and bounces led to those goals.
