Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

For those of you that do twitter, Sam Jardine put a picture of his stitched cut from the UAF players skate. All I can say is..WOW
Sam was saying Saturday it wasn't as bad as first thought and 6 weeks out instead of the 10 initially thought will probably be the case.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

WOW , he was really lucky that it wasn't his neck that got cut.
It caught him at an angle which minimized the depth of it. If it had been straight on perpendicular to the arm it would have been worst case scenerio.

Well let's hope the Bucks can get another sweep at LSSU this Holiday weekend. I hope they don't eat to much turkey!!!! LOL.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

It was reported on the Cbus news this morning the owner of many Panera's gave the Athletic Dept a 10 mil donation. It is expected to assist in the replacing of St John. I have to assume the ice rink and french field house as well. Hockey arena anyone? It could house the mens and womens team in addition to hosting many rec activities...

Edit- Reported no decision has been made at this time on the ice rink and FF, but come on...

This is a couple years old, and I highly doubt a 3,000 seat ice arena is what they would build now, but it is the bigger plan for athletic facilities at OSU... I would guess an arena with 5,000 minimum seats would be built eventually. http://fod.osu.edu/masterplans/subdistrict/Athletics_10_08.pdf $10 million dollars is a very nice donation but a drop in the bucket towards any project

From what I read about it on ohiostatebuckeyes.com, it sounds like this arena will replace St. John Arena as the home to mens and womens volleyball, wrestling, gymnastics, and the fencing team. The article did not mention a new ice arena. I sincerely hope a new ice arena is next on the agenda. It's way overdue IMHO.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all the Coaches , players , staff and us crazy fans. Save the Turkey " WISH-BONE " for the second half of the season as we might need it!!!! LOL. Go Buckeyes Go.

If they intend to use the St John site for dorms and classrooms I doubt that the ice rink and French Field House remain standing. If that's the case then at the very least a practice facility with ice is necessary.

I read today where they are planning on razing St. John Arena and the Ice Rink. That would certainly mean they intend to build a new ice arena. Either that, or the women will be playing their games at the Schott. I have to believe a hockey-only facility isn't far behind. I just hope they do the right thing and build something that holds at least 7,000. Anything less than that is too small. The mens team draws 8,000 - 9,000 vs Michigan and Miami in down years. When Osiecki gets this program going, anything less than 7,000 or possibly more would be shortsighted. I am probably dreaming, but I would like to see OSU have something like Minnesota where they have a mens arena that seats 8,000 - 9,000 and an adjacent arena for the women that seats 3,000 - 4,000. It's not like OSU doesn't have a bunch of rich alums who could make that happen. Other events could be held in those arenas, like NCAA Regionals and IIHF World Championships.

One more thing, HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my friends here on USCHO! I have had the pleasure of meeting some of you in person. Others, I would like to meet in person and have not had the opportunity to, but I am thankful that we have this forum where we can all discuss something that is near and dear to us ... OSU HOCKEY! Hope everyone enjoyed some great food and great times with family today!

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Could we finally be turning the corner?
3 points tonight tied us with Ferris & ND for second in CCHA and only a point behind first place Miami! A sweep will put us in 1st place as no other CCHA teams have a conference game this weekend except Alaska playing Northern. The way we were playing a couple of weeks ago who would have thought but with the rash of injuries and others getting playing time because of it may have changed the chemistry and intensity enough to tip the scales in our favor.
Go Bucks! Sweep the Lakers!

I haven't read about the game yet, but I saw that we won 4-1! I don't care who we are playing, I will take a 4-1 win on the road in the CCHA anyday! I agree with you that we just might be turning a corner. Let's get a sweep tomorrow and three more points!

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

3 straight wins and 1 point out of First place going into tonight. A win tonight would be a nice finish to the month of November and be in 1st place all alone going into december. This team is coming along very nicely and getting better each and every game.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

best thing about last night (other than winning) -- one point from ten different players. Tanner Fritz managed two points for the total of eleven.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Wow, forums pretty dead for after a win. Everybody must be holiday travelling.

Ate to much TURKEY it hard to think & type!!! :) LOL. The Bucks looked good. I thought LSSU was going to put up a better fight than they did. I was hoping that Goalie Hjelle would of got the shutout as he played very good.

Let's get the BROOM out for tonights game. If we have to put the broom back in the closet , a split is always good to. GO BUCKS.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

So if the LSSU goal was a 5-3 PP that means Hjelle hasn't given up an even strength (or even 5-4) goal in the last 3 games. Pretty impressive.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Not a good night for the Buckeyes. From the sounds of it they got out played for much of the night, they did however mount a rally at the end but fall short 3-2. A missed chance for first place but also i think its important to get 3 points or more from every weekeknd in the grand scheme of things. Off to Sparty town next weekend.
