Not only is the coaching staff mostly new but so is the radio network....

from The official site....

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State men's hockey games in 2010-11 will be available to fans both on the radio and the internet this year. The Ohio State Buckeyes Radio Network/IMG College will carry 25 regular season games and all postseason action involving the Buckeyes over the air at 1460 AM in Columbus and online at OhioStateBuckeyes.com.

Additionally all games except the 2 games against Alaska from Nationwide Arena will have video streams available at the official site.

No word on who the announcers will be, but with the change from WOSU it makes one wonder if Herb Howenstine and John Mowat are gone as well.

Naturally the first two games at Quinnipiac are not being broadcast by an OSU team, but the official site will carry the Q radio feed.

per an e-mail - there will be an announcement on the radio team Friday or next Monday.

I believe at the Quinnipiac athletics website... http://www.quinnipiacbobcats.com they will also be offering a live video feed as well. Poke around the site and I'm sure you'll find it.

The Columbus Dispatch had a story on page 6 of the sports section today about the coach and team. Decent sized story and content and it included a photo. No mention though of his letting players go. The thing is before the coaching change it was rare for the Dispatch to give much coverage to OSU hockey outside of playoffs and when they did it was only a paragraph or two at most it seemed. It's good that the rest of the world can see that the mens hockey program at OSU is on the upswing.

Not too surprising as the "Dipsatch" owns 1460, the new radio home of the Buckeyes. Now the paper have to promote what's on their radio station.

BTW - Zac Dalpe with an assist in his first NHL game today in Helsinki for the Hurricane.

I.m beating a dead horse here, but not having all games on radio is just wrong, even though I realize 1460 must juggle OSU FB & BB, NHL and baseball. Still much better than last season and is a step up over WOSU. HERBIE MUST RETURN!!!!!!!!!!!

Won't be surprised if Niel Seeka landed the job.

Game one.

It looks like we are starting off how we ended last year. The Freshman took a tripping penalty and the team payed the price as we got scored on.
We need more players to put the puck in the net. To me it looks like the Goalie / D-Men did there job and helped keep the puck out of the net.

We got one more chance to save face and get the WIN on Saturday Night.

They should not lose to Quinnipiac. This could be a very long season if they dont find more scoring. From what i read Cal played very well. I suspect he will take the reigns over dusty at some point i thought he would last year but Markell stuck to the rotation( which i had no problem with).

I don't know what Coach OZ is trying to prove with playing most of his Freshmen. You can't WIN games at this level with that many Freshmen in the line up. Rotate your young players, Freshmen. :confused:

I thought the hiring of this guy was a good move, so I will have to support his decisions . Everyone expects more loses then wins. Really nothing wrong with giving the youngins some valuable ice-time in the NC. They will need the experience once CCHA play starts.

My assumption is the underclassmen, especially the freshmen may get a lot of ice time over the seniors as Oz feels they are the foundation for the team he wants to build and school is in session for them. I think he's already looking past this season and training them for down the road. He'll take what wins he gets obviously this year but I feel he's focused on team building rather than success in the here and now. Like in our previous posts we all know the program is in better hands now and will vastly improve, the question is how long until it does. If he's got 11-14 kids to bring in for next year I'm very curious to see the level of talent he can get here in that quantity.

He already made his upperclasmen cuts for this year. He doesn't need to kick the rest of the guys in the " NUTS. " He better play to WIN this year and every year. He will gain youth as the older guys move on. He can WIN more games with a good mix of ages and talent.
I can see that there's one or two Freshmen that have beat out some of the upperclassmen , but to take all but one Freshmen with him on the road. Coach OZ didn't earn any " BROWNIE POINTS " with the Columbus Blue Jackets Head Coach as his kid was the only Freshmen left behind. :D

2-0 Ohio state late in the first. Crane and Somma have scored for the Bucks. Heeter in net again and he has been very good so far.

3-0 after 1. Albert scored on the PP he now has 2 points tonight he set up the somma goal. Very good period for the Bucks. Heeter made some key saves when it was 0-0 and 1-0 they also killed 2 Bobcat PP's.

Bucks are looking and solid and Ive been impressed with Chris Crane I thought he looked good last night and tonight he has a goal
