Imagine seeing Mario on the PS4...from what I've heard though, Nintendo doesn't want to do that.

Well, that went to hell in a handbasket...that thing is straight outta Orwell.

All Nintendo has to do at their next convention is this:

Empty stage. Enter Reggie Fils-Aime stage right holding a copy of NSMBU. Enter another exec stage left. Reggie crosses the stage and hands the copy of NSMBU to the other exec.

"Sharing games with friends: a Wii U exclusive."

Scene. Mic drop optional.
Close, it was Sony and Jack Tretton. I fully expected Jack to put on a trollface mask or something...

$400...PSN Plus carries over...no DRM...can actually do whatever the fark you want with their games...

Call for the bell, this one's all over. 8th gen goes to Sony.

Who thought we'd be saying that after 2011?

I certainly didn't. I am disappointed that you have to have PS+ to play online multiplayer on the PS4 (although you don't need it for like Netflix and stuff). It's funny how they slipped that in there.

But I already have PS+ and PS+ will still give you free games, so I guess I'll live with it.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

So in general, the PS4 is more like the old systems, where you can buy/sell used games, no DLC if you don't want it (as in required 100% of the time, it's more an add-on), and it's reasonably priced? And the other systems are not that?

Yeah, sign me up eventually.

Now to play a little bit of buzzkill.

SONY said they'd support used games and no DRM. The developers didn't. Now watch every EA game require an Origin account.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Lots of jabs at Xbox there :)

I'm really torn about all of this. For the current generation, I'm quite entrenched in the Xbox camp, even though I have both systems. I use the PS3 for movies and exclusives, but aside from that, I prefer the 360, hands down. I also don't even know anybody else with a PS3, so that definitely makes it easier to go Xbox for multiplayer.

For the next generation, the PS4 looks a bit meh to me. Mostly appears to be a hardware upgrade, with a few bells and whistles I don't care about, and a couple of tweaks that could be nice (concave triggers and thumbsticks!!!), but not much to get excited about.

The XboxOne, on the other hand, seems kinda Jekyll and Hyde. If the presentation holds true for the end product, then the overall interface looks quick and silky smooth. The Kinect now seems like a highly functional part of the interface, rather than a gimmick for party games. Blu-ray. The ability to instantly multitask and switch inputs with a word is a HUGE plus for me. I've probably spent a couple hours total just switching inputs on my TV's slow and clunky input setup, alternating between watching TV and checking to see if my tardy co-op buddy has gotten on yet.

But then.... there's all the other stuff. The online every 24 hour requirement. The nebulous used/loaned game issue. Required installation. Generally seeming like they're trying to put their fingers where they don't belong. That's probably the biggest sticking point, since I don't think most of that would really effect me personally. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know if it'll be enough to get me to not get an XboxOne, but it's enough to make me seriously question it.

And guess who had no presence at Sony's Conference? EA.

Mega Man confirmed for the new Smash Bros.

And for those you wondering why everyone is laughing at Microsoft, Here's the details on the XBox One.

Gosh it's so nice they let us do so many things.

Hint to MSFT, if they don't want to update something on a timely basis then don't allow that feature to work in game.

MSFT is trying to figure out how to strip every possible dollar away... Forgetting that people get ****y when they are nickeled out of existsance. They are trying to provide a product for themselves, not the customer.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Wanna narrow it down? So many things....

If you don't have the internet the XBOX 360 is your best choice... if there isn't a higher up in Redmond saying "what the hell have we done" then they deserve everything they will get.
