Through the first story mode string. Ready to roll whenever.

Yeah I figured that's what you were doing. You should at least get through "Party Time" since that gives you a nicer apartment.

I like that the gangs are a bit more difficult in this game then the previous. They try to get out of the way, take cover, etc. and it takes more to kill them unless you get head shots.

They are also ultra aggressive. At just 2 stars they are coming out of the woodwork and can overwhelm you pretty quick if you aren't paying attention.

Time to start considering names for the next thread. Hrmm...

That's exactly the mission I made it through. Working on getting quick cash and buying stores to get cash flow going. Anything cool I should be saving up for?

Try getting to 3 stars with the Deckers some time. When that hyperspeed nutjob shows up with the lightning hammer you're done for.

And fark you Volition for requiring the online pass.

And fark you Volition for ruining the first hideout takeover with Kanye West.

Also, did you ever get your Professor Genki stuff? Hearing THQ/Volition botched the launch on that and no one got their code for their stuff.

I got my Funtime Pack! just fine. The code was on my GameStop Receipt.

So far I have been saving up for the different upgrades that really help. More health, more sprint, more ammo, etc. But I have also been buying property of course. The most expensive I've seen is the airport at $50,000 so far. The boat dock is $12,000. Otherwise everything else is $1,000, $5,000, $10,000.

I found and played my first Prof. Genki S.E.R.C game. Made about $2,300 on it.

Return To Steelport mission is kind of a pain in the ***. A lot of checkpoints and some brutes with miniguns added into protecting homies who stand out in the open and get shot A LOT. I'm not even sure how I got through.

Only have an hour or so tonight, so I'll probably spend it grinding Insurance Fraud so I can buy more stores and maximize income. Stupid bar trivia.

Anything else good for making fast money?

I just do S.E.R.C over and over since its like 2-3 minutes to go through and can get a couple thousand.

Trojan Whores mission gets you Gunship in garage. /flex

I'll stick with Insurance Fraud then. Just like last time, ignore the hot spots and go to a highway. Done in like 2 minutes. I think the second one in the middle island is worth $5K.

To hell with that. Go to the airport, head to the north/south runway, grab the cropduster right next to where the runways cross, take off heading north, and fly through the 3 sets of power pillars. $5K a pass. And you can loop around and get 'em going the other way too.

Made $500K+ in an hour. :D

I did take a plane up but didn't go through the power pillars apparently. Your message said towers, so I went between towers! I'll prolly give it another go though, since it seems like fairly easy cash.

I've hit a point in the game where there is no real story related missions and its kind of annoying. Every mission I take ends up just being another activity.

I have retrieved every sex toy doll (20). Needed the heli to complete some of them. Just need to finish money pallets and whatever other collectibles there are.

ETA: Also, I was screwing around outside Zimos crib killing police so I could garage a SWAT vehicle. Well I got the SNG Bulldog with gun turret the first time, but SWAT never showed up (just heli, cars, and Bulldog). So I did it again, this time SWAT did show up, but so did an effin tank that wasted me before I could even get into the SWAT vehicle. Good times tho! :D

Seems nearly impossible to get into tank in single player since there is so many other things shooting at you. But maybe.

Yeah, it's the 3 sets of metal power/lighting structure tower thingies, right at the north end of the N/S runway. One set is a little short set right at the tip of the runway, one's a little after that, and the last is on that big island in front of the downed plane. You have to fly through all 3. It'll pop up a Barnstorming meter off to the right if you're doing it correctly.

Thanks to my lucrative side career as a flight instructor, I bought every buyable property in the city and leveled up all the weapons I have. The first SMG at level 4 is flipping broken. Gangs can't shoot back if they're too busy running around on fire and screaming. You can take out a gang activity site in 5 seconds. And you'll eventually unlock the ability to dual wield them.

And I make $32K an hour now too. Now I need to go find some of the really fun toys.

Also, (minor spoiler) you can find Professor Genki randomly wandering the streets, and killing him is worth a ton of money.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Steam weekend deal is 2 fold.

- Play Magicka free all weekend
- Buy Magicka for 75% off until Monday ($2.49).

I own it from the last deal they had on it. It's a pretty fun game.

TES IV: Oblivion is still listed at 75% off as well.

I tried out the Barnstorming last night on SR3. There are sets of 3 pillars at the end of both runways, and both will give you money. However it is not a consistent amount. Sometimes I got $3000+ and sometimes I got $770. So it must have to do with how you fly through them.

I spent the rest of the time punching hobos in the nuts.

Also bought the Season Pass. It gives you the Nyte Blade stuff right away.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

JFC, I thought that Return to Steelport mission wasn't ever going to farking end. And it autotriggers after you blow up (or not) the skyscraper.

I chose not to blow up the skyscraper, since I'd heard you get it as a hideout if you don't. All I got was a 10% cash increase, I think. I has a sad.

Also the maxed out Shepherd .45s take down brutes pretty fast. They've become my main weapon.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

My only wish is that you could use the Octo-gun to mind control brutes. That would be fantastic!

Shark-o-matic is pretty funny. You shoot fish at the enemy and then a shark comes up out of the ground and eats them.

Well, there goes another 160 MS Points. I have to have that.

Is it just me, or was SR2 more fun to explore? Stilwater had the shopping mall, college campus, museums, cave system, canals under the city, etc. Steelport really just has streets and a couple buildings. Where's the neat stuff to go check out?

Stillwater was better from a "secret" places to visit perspective.

There are nooks and crannies around Steelport. Maybe not as interesting, but there.

- The island with the statue is a homeless haven, but i didnt see a way to get in to the building. There is a couple of half sunk planes (ive seen 2 so far) and a partially sunk ship out in the water.
- There are several small sections of adult entertainment buildings around the city. Although again I have only ever been able to go in to the one strip club.
- There is a lower path around much of the canals within the city. Some have inset areas to walk through.
- The stadium I believe will open up when Genkibowl VII DLC comes out.
- The Gothedrals are cool, but again, closed off.
- Some of the rooftops in the downtown area that you can land on via heli have places to go.

I agree SR2 was better for exploration.

ETA: There is a huge tied down bunny on one of the docked ships, I think its from SR2.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

So, is it wise to intentionally not level up in Oblivion? I'm trying to grasp this level smoothing bit, and I'm only level 2 (although I am guessing by now I could easily go all the way up to 7-8).

Oh, and I forgot about the need to repair everything on a regular basis - that led to a rather...interesting situation to say the least (why yes, I had to kill things bare-handed while wearing nearly-useless armor in a crazed effort to shut down an oblivion gate - at level 1 no less).
