Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Headed to game, with one NCAA game under their belts, they should be fine. Curious with what the line up changes will be, and they must find a way to score on Carr tonight! The goalie last night was good, now one of the best in the conference with Carr. This should be a great, wide open game...good luck to the young guys!

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Looks like Hennessey and Hart will be in the lineup tonight, as for any others I don't know.

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

As well as Gilbert back in net, according to warm-ups.

The new WNYO guys already seem to be a little calmer than yesterday. I think they got a little nervous at covering their first game. So the question remains, who's going to start showing exemplary performances first, the new WNYO guys or the gents they're covering? I'm seeing a lot of potential for them both.

Last minute change according to WNYO, Zawadski will be starting against Buff State tonight!

Apparently Zawadski will be playing instead of Gilbert. Also, I'm ridiculously excited about seeing Waterstreet play. The guys just a monstrous monstrosity of bigness. I wanna see him destroy things.

Yes, that is correct, apparently happened during warmups. Gilbert pulled in favor of Zawadski. During WTOP's cut to break Zawadski was breaking in the crease prior to national anthems. He will start.

A win is a win. I saw a lot of great stuff from the Oswego men during this game. While I don't think they're really going to be competitive for the regular season title, it'll be interesting to see how much these guys mature as the year goes on. By the time playoff time comes around, Oswego could be competitive enough to challenge Platty for the SUNYAC championship. They'll be underdogs but it's conceivable.

Basically what I saw was a massive amount of talent. Every single one of the guys I saw looks like a weapon that just needs sharpening. I didn't see them all connecting and communicating well with each other. Galati-Botten-Neil would be the exception in my opinion though. Keep those guys together until further notice. They're starting to get it together.

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

They decided to try and win ugly tonight and got the W. Galati, Botten and Neil were really fun to watch and the Waterstreet, Hulshof, Smith line was strong as well.

I love the game Hennessey plays, he is a hustler for sure and he also has a hard shot which could turn him into a solid offensive player later on.

Zawadski was excellent for a period and a half while in the second half of the game he pretty much did stretching exercises for most of it. I think he should start against Cortland, not that he really outshone Gilly but he got the W

Hart was good on D and I felt Johnson, Rivait and Gertsakis made 180 degree turns from Friday night. They really clamped it down in the third and if they can start banging in a few more chances they will make some noise.

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Really was impressed with their possession in the third period... at least a fourteen minute stretch where Buffalo got no shots at all. I think it will be fun watching Adams, Galati and Hennessey for the next few years.

This is going to be fun as a fan! New line combinations tonight, it will take a while until you're surprised with the line up. That is a good win! I like the way Buff St. plays, and like what Carriere is doing with them. The "Big" line was fun to watch with Smith, Waterstreet, and Hulsof! A work in progress, and it is going to be fun to watch! Carr is good in net!

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Obviously a much better result tonight. We were checking them before the blue line sat nite before they got a full head of steam up. Friday
We let Fredonia get a good head up before we checked them on our side of the blue line. It is a great deal of fun to see the new guys out .
They will represent a reloading . It is tough for us fans to forget The boys who just won 96 games the last four years, but we are pumped.
Will be good to see Eli back when he is 100 percent again. He will bring great enthusiasm and experience

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

I'd say that was a nice win,Congrats to all around at Oz....like others have stated,I liked the defensive play tonight, but they still have to get a man in the dzone,i think Gosek will work more on this in practice for sure.Faceoffs were much better,I would use Neil when I needed a win he was very good on them. Was anyone else surprised not to see Willis yet, injury?? He is a D1 trans, would expect to see him by the first 2 games??Also thought Bonner had a good game fri, surprised not to see him last night. Henny hustles for sure,I think that is his game. How about the all fresh poweplay, they looked very poised for newbies.P Rod was very good along with Badham,a lot of hustle, badham is a bull in a china shop.Pen kill was more aggressive.i think on offense we went to the net and it made things happen, wee need to keep tha up,crash the net boys..The BIg liine of hus/wtrst/smith looked very good, nice forecheck and they got back as well, waterstreet can move for a BIG guy,he will replace stretch Singleton very well.Zman was good, and as stated did a bunch of wacthing the third period but was there when needed, does Jasmin play the next game??galati/neil/botten what can ya say but,moodie/rod/whitelaw????? They looked great, speed puck handling and they can shoot as well, look out ...Titanic,adams and MOntagna, look good as well, they will produce if left together....would not want to be gosek when it comes to figuring out lines etc,as stated b4 a ton of talent..ok ramble over, more experience to follow..last thing as a former dman you should not be the last guy out of the zone with the puck, and then compound it by making a pass up the middle,we lost a BIG BIG game a few yrs ago in placid on a play like like IIRC...as my old prep coach used to say" better you died as a child than make that pass" I know rough stuff......

The third period shots were impressive. I keep the stats for the games, and at one point more than halfway through the 3rd we noticed that Buff State still didn't have any shots. Their only shot on goal of the whole period came in the final minute with Carr on the bench.
