Disappointing loss last night. Got home late from work and watched it on line with some Chinese food. The first 6-7 minutes were unreal. Constant pressure in the offensive zone. Only problem was they didn't convert. The three on one goal against is a breakdown and at this level will result in a goal the majority of the times. You can't have odd man rushes against and you must own the blue lines at both ends of the rink. The OT goal was extremely frustrating to watch. The Big D Man, Rivait, took the man into the corner and when the Fredonia player stopped, he did a big giant rink turn or Boston turn, depending on where you are from, away from the puck carrier. If he would have stopped and stayed there, the puck would have never been centered to the front of the net. There are some good new players but as Bakdraft said this isn't juniors. Without naming names, a few newbies better figure out that there are corners at this level and that the puck won't simply find them. Ed will be inserting kids in and out of the lineup all year, finally settling on those who want the puck and not just wait for it. Last but not least, for the poster who makes mention of inquiring or starting up the "fire Gosek" thread, that's completely without merit. I coach a varsity high school team, peewee hockey and played myself and have had numerous communications with Ed over the last few years via email and at USA Hockey seminars. This guy is the best thing in college hockey. He gets the game, the players and motivation. Whatever he gets out of the kids year to year is a lot more than anyone else would.
