Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Also it's still annoying that they HAVE to mail the tickets to the billing address, means I'll have to have them mailed home and then have someone send them to school, not that much trouble... but what's the big deal against having a separate shipping address?

I realized that too. But because I live in California, and they could mail the tickets as late as a week before the game, I called in and added a separate shipping address. Wasn't difficult at all.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

A friend just told me this puppy is "SOLD OUT!" I'm guessing that means they stopped selling to alumni because they have to keep some tickets for the 22nd release.

BU Hockey: Pay to Freeze

I'm curious as to the thought process with the email notification on these presales. I received on 8/28 two emails - one with a 9/1 presale date with one password, one with a 9/3 presale date with a different password. Yesterday I got a third email with the 9/3 date and the same password from the email on the 28th. Nothing distinguishable on the first two to determine while distribution list each one was. I don't know if I got one of the emails because I am a Premium Seat Holder, a season ticket holder or Friend of Hockey or what. The third email (from yesterday) was definitely targeted to alumni. I know someone that is an alum, FOH and long time season ticket holder and all he got was the 9/3 presale email from the 28th and could not get tickets.

I think it's really bad form that Red Sox season ticket holders had a presale before some BU/BC/NU/UNH fans could get theirs. I have no idea how many tickets are even left for the general sale on the 17th.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Your friend might want to check on whether his/her email is on file with each group.

I didn't get any emails and don't need to get a ticket, but it does seem like with each entity wanting to control their own distribution that things didn't go as smoothly as they should have. Some coordination - if only a) all entities send emails to their #1 list on date A with info for Date X earliest sales and to "the rest" on date B with info for Date Y sales - between entities might have helped some. I don't really understand why the various entities weren't able to spell out their policies at the announcement. Fear that discussing the game with more people would spill the beans because it was such a tightly kept secret??

Re: the Red Sox - if their STHs get the best possible seats (I have no idea what they are getting) it would be no different from the STHs related to teams housed at Frozen Four locations getting the best seats. Not saying I agree with that although it is a lot more understandable in this context since Fenway seems to mean so much to people that it makes sense that there would be a real desire among Red Sox fans to be there as opposed to F4 locations which usually don't mean much to anyone aside from proximity to teams and/or good tourist attractions.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

The whole process was a little whacky.

I got one September 1st option (second hand; thanks Dog Pound) and three September 3rd's: one from alumi, one from Agganis and one from TD Garden (based on me buying Hockey East playoff tickets, I guess?). Kind of ironic that the alum one emphasized how special I was for getting their secret code to buy tickets before everyone else ( two days after most folks  ). Gotta love it!

Either way, I'm pumped!

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Have you called your credit card company and registered your school address? Credit card companies allow you to have addresses in addition to your billing address on file that are then treated the same way. I haven't run into a vendor unwilling to use another registered address although it is possible that some do not.

Thanks for this! Had no idea you could do that.. i would rep you, but apparently i've been doing that too much lately :/

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

im a little concerned about the abundance of tickets already on stubhub and the possiblity that ticket brokers got their hands one of the not well hidden passwords and bought up all the tickets. i really hope im wrong on this, but they tend to flock to fenway events of any kind.

Yeah, wouldn't want this end up being a Redskins fiasco where more opposing fans got tickets than their fans. Not exactly the same here but these games are directed towards the fans of these schools and having big chunks taken up by people who could care less is annoying.

The entire pre-sale and passwords thing was ridiculous. BU people got at max three different e-mails concerning the presale and two passwords, one worked the other didn't. At least the BU password was not as obvious as the NU password.

45 days...
Depending on how you count. We're just a month away from chatter about how the freshman looked against SFX the night before. Not the same as the RS, I know, but we've got to get in shape, too.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Don't understand all the ticket angst. I got an e-mail on the 28th maybe saying use this link and this password to log in on the 2nd. I did and got tickets. End of story. The Garden also sent me an e-mail on the 2nd to get tix on the 3rd, but I was all set already.

Moving on, I have a few questions about the upcoming season, in no particular order of importance (actually, they're not important at all, but anyway...)

1) Millan - Does he go the way of Tom Noble or do we have a 4 year starter here?

2) Any 50 point scorers this year?

3) Will Friends of BU Hockey Prez finally convince me to cough up 150 bucks for membership, or do I continue to access room as a guest all year?

4) Now that pot is decriminalized in Mass, does BU2K just hand over a hundred bucks for the fine at the door of the arena so he can toke up in his seat?

5) Parker - is this the final year?

6) Will the old, beer guzzling, nacho inhaling DavidB reappear for a turn-back-the-clock season? Or do we stay with the watered down version?

7) Crash the net or dump-and-suck?

8) Any Brian Gentry sightings at games this year?

9) Does Sasquatch finally and mercifully retire?

10) Another Frozen Four run?

The 2nd? So was there a 4th email? Because I got one email on the 28th that said the pre sale was 9/1 and the other email said the pre sale was 9/3. My third email had a 9/3 pre sale date as well. It's a problem because the tickets went so fast they had to shut down the pre sale at 2pm on 9/3 and people who were eligible did not get tickets.

Moving on, I have a few questions about the upcoming season, in no particular order of importance (actually, they're not important at all, but anyway...)

Let me see if I can help here.....

1) Millan - Does he go the way of Tom Noble or do we have a 4 year starter here? -- Hard to say, I think we start off again this year with a rotation.

2) Any 50 point scorers this year? -- I'd think Bonino has a great shot at it.

3) Will Friends of BU Hockey Prez finally convince me to cough up 150 bucks for membership, or do I continue to access room as a guest all year? -- I will personally see to it that you are banned until you decide to cough up the donation. Because I can. :)

4) Now that pot is decriminalized in Mass, does BU2K just hand over a hundred bucks for the fine at the door of the arena so he can toke up in his seat? -- I'd like to think it's not the fine that's the issue but rather bothering the people sitting in the seats around him that would be bothered. Unless you want to help pay that fine since you sit in front of him and would be one of several beneficiaries. :)

5) Parker - is this the final year? -- No.

6) Will the old, beer guzzling, nacho inhaling DavidB reappear for a turn-back-the-clock season? Or do we stay with the watered down version? -- I'm thinking we're stuck with the watered down version. None of us are kids anymore.

7) Crash the net or dump-and-suck? -- A little from column A, a little from column B.

8) Any Brian Gentry sightings at games this year? -- Yes.

9) Does Sasquatch finally and mercifully retire? -- No.

10) Another Frozen Four run?[/QUOTE] -- Here's hoping. Not expecting it, but hey, why not?

Anything else I can help answer for you?

I ended up getting three 9/3 presale notices as well. TD Garden and Agganis were for 9/3 at noon. But on the morning of 9/3 around 10AM I got one from BC Eaglemail which allowed me to log in immediately. It seemed messed up that BC provided earlier access than the other 9/3 presales, though I'm not complaining. It beat the noon rush, and the annoying virtual waiting rooms, and I was able to buy tickets in the BU section.

He just can't catch a break. And how can you get an injury during testing? Was it like practice skating? Running? Feel bad for him.

your username is appropriate in this circumstance. 3hock has been 100% right on every piece of info he/she's ever posted including informing us gilroy was returning a month before it was announced.

This poor kid... he was out last year hurt and now this... will be be able to redshirt or does he lose a year? The roster listed him as a Soph, but did he redshirt last season (wouldn't that make him a Freshman?)
