Re: Official 2015 BottomFeeder Bracketology and Site Selection Thread
Here's what we have, before we start messing around:
WEST (Winter Park-Fraser CO)
1. AIC
2. Air Force
3. Sacred Heart
4. Mass
MIDWEST (Fremont OH)
1. Army
2. Holy Cross
3. Anchorage
4. Rensselaer
NORTHEAST (Canton MA)
1. Niagara
2. Lake Superior
3. Huntsville
4. Clarkson
EAST (Wright Twp PA)
1. Princeton
2. Wisconsin
3. Colorado Col
4. Brown
As difficult as it usually is with so many Atlantic Hockey teams in the field, we TRY to avoid first round match-ups between conference foes. Surprisingly, only ONE of the THREE conflicts involve AH teams. Swapping the others while avoiding more conflicts may be difficult, but let's give it a try.
The BAD match-ups are:
Air Force vs. Sacred Heart is the WEST
Lake Superior vs Huntsville in the N'EAST
Princeton vs. Brown in the EAST
Conventional wisdom says swap the lower seed (Sacred Heart) out of the WEST, but the committee is looking ahead to the next step (minimizing attendance and maximizing travel hardships) so we're going to kill two birds with one stone and swap the #2 seeds from the WEST and NORTHEAST. We'll send Lake Superior to Colorado and send Air Force to Massachusetts.
That leaves us with just the Princeton-Brown match-up in the EAST regional. As the #4 band is dominated by ECAC teams, the only place we can send Brown is WEST, bringing U Mass back EAST to Pennsylvania. Too bad, we were hoping to make AIC and U-Mass (just 26 miles apart) travel across three time zones to play...but it's almost as good to send Brown (just 84 miles from AIC) on that same trip.
Well, unless there are any serious objections, here are the brackets:
WEST
1. AIC
2. Lake Superior
3. Sacred Heart
4. Brown
MIDWEST
1. Army
2. Holy Cross
3. Alaska-Anchorage
4. Rensselaer
NORTHEAST
1. Niagara
2. Air Force
3. Alabama-Huntsville
4. Clarkson
EAST
1. Princeton
2. Wisconsin
3. Colorado College
4. Massachusetts
We are intrigued by the "jet-propulsion" match-up between Air Force and Huntsville.
Regional games will be played Sunday and Monday March 29-30.
