Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

"Why Western?" was the tag line for a marketing campaign your athletic department launched to lobby for a spot in the NCHC.

Just bought some tickets for Saturday's game at Lawson last night - looking forward to my first, of what I'm sure will be many in the coming years, trip out there. Considering it will be about the only manageable conference road game for either fan base :mad:

Completely forgot about that... Thanks!

You'll enjoy your time at Lawson, the lunatics make it an environment unlike any other in the CCHA.

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

What a way to finish out a series, great to see that top line clicking again. Hopefully we can carry this into the big series next weekend.

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Nothing gets Miami's offense going more than a series with Alaska. Best wishes to Alaska the rest of CCHA season, hope they can make a run. Huge series next week. Wish I was going.

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Hello 1st place.

Western D-man Dennis Brown took a DQ in overtime tonight

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Worried about our defense, we gave up 3 goals this weekend!! That's unheard of (granted, 2 were powerplays).

On a 17-3-2 record against Why Western? in the past few years, time to bury them.

i kept yelling at the tv for the play-by-play guy (name?) to knock on wood when he kept referring to the 26 straight kills on the PK. I blame him.

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Marc Hagel gets the CCHA Offensive Player of the Week honors.
CCHA said:
Hagel had two assists, including one on the game-winning goal, in a 4-1 win over Alaska on Friday. He added three assists, including one on the game winner, in a 6-2 victory on Saturday to complete the sweep of the Nanooks. He also had two blocks and finished a +6 on the weekend.

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

I decided not to bid when Barber and Kuraly went past $350, then forgot to check the results until I saw them posted today in another thread. Good grief...

Barber - $2,310
Kuraly - $745

Must have been someone with a personal connection to Riley or a Caps fan running that price up. While he played well, I don't think I would call him one of the marquee players on that team.

Just to put and end to the rumors...i am NOTan independently wealthy Caps fan. I AM, however,...and i'm just putting this out there....available to become a DE-pendently wealthy Caps fan. Just throwing that out there to see if there are any takers.

just sayin'...it is possible.

Hell, I'd become a Blackhawks fan if someone is offering enough. :)

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Why Western already had one banner stolen from them, lets scalp them this weekend and steal another.

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

As is customary, I hadn't seen this posted yet, so I figured Why Not?

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Game Day! No overstatement necessary, these two are big.

The tribes go forth to war,
Their scalp songs ring afar;
Bright the blood-red camp fires gleaming,
Mad with thrist the war-hawks screaming,
Signal smoke soars high,
Beckons in the sky,
Old men shake their calabashes,
Warriors dance amid the ashes,
Maides sobbing, war-drums throbbing, WAR!

Sweet the vict'ry and the conquest,
Calm the rest among the slain;
Sons of centuries of heroes,
Seek the fruit, despise the pain.
Watch Miami, now,
See the Untrained Equine bow,
Far and wide their host is scattered,
Spears are broken, shields are battered;
Miami! Yuh! Yuh! Yuh! Yuh!
Miami! Yuh! Yuh! Yuh! Yuh!
Race them, chase them, pound them, Wow!

Whoop wooop.

Western going to be a little shorthanded without Haar (injury) and Brown (serving his DQ penalty) on the blue-line tonight. Their absence may adversely affect the Bronco power play as much as anything.

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

I'll continute to talk to myself - but for anyone that doesn't read HawkTalk - Bake just posted that video for the games will be available thru our All-Access subscriptions, apparently WMU was kind enough to share their feed. Pretty cool, haven't seen that done before. NCHC solidarity!
