Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

So, friend and I made it out to the game last night and we noticeed a couple of thingsThoughts on last night:

1) noticed a couple of effort plays by the stars of this team that weren't there in the past. Great to see.
2) who is this Morris kid? Haven't noticed him in the past, but he did a really nice job separating the Bg forwards from the puck. Very disruptive...loved it.
3) was very disappointed in the play of Steven Spinell. For a captain, I expect more. Everytime he was at our end he was turning it over, missing a clear, or getting skated by. Not acceptable.
4) C-Mac has to be smarter. The boarding penalty was unacceptable from any player, let alone a senior. (I was surprised that BG didn't get a penalty for retaliation)

BIG FINALE!
5) BG is so markedly improved from when Coach Bergeron took over that it's insane! The skill, effort, and coaching is miles ahead of where it was. That program has the potential to be a big player in the very near future.

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Nice looking stats, and this guy is coming in next year? Seems pretty late in the process for a new guy to add to next years class.

He's a 93' so I'd guess we'll be seeing him in the fall. I doubt Rico's at at risk of anyone leaving early after this season, so my best (pure) guess for the roster:

Forwards

Out:
Marc Hagel
Steve Mason
Curtis McKenzie

In:
Devin Loe
Ryan Siroky
Anthony Louis

Defense

Out:
Joe Hartman
Garrett Kennedy
Steven Spinell

In:
Johnny Wingels
Matt Joyaux
Trevor Hamilton

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

So this weekend we scored 5 goals, several of which came on the power play, so my question is...

...who are you guys, and what have you done with the Redhawks of the last 2 months?

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Paula Weston called this series perfectly.

Let's do it again next weekend against the Nanooks!

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Stealing some info from MHT regarding what Rico had to say about OOC scheduling for the next couple years. Not really a surprise but Notre Dame, Michigan and Michigan State did not wish to continue playing us. At least according to those who were at the event, some of the teams we'll be seeing:

Wisconsin
Colgate
RPI
tOSU (Confirmed this will be every year - yay!)
BSGU
Boston University

Well at least one team in the B1G doesn't have their head up their butt...

Pretty cool to see BU as well.

Notre Dame is laughable, guess they don't like that they are 3-17-5 in the last 25 games. Kudos to Ohio State, you've got more balls than those other 3 schools.

Michigan State is a throw away, I don't think those games are anything more than another conference matchup for either fanbase or team. Would have been nice to keep Michigan or ND on the slate, but at the same time if we are in a position to strike up deals with the top tier of HEA it lessens the blow a bit. See some new teams and get over the proverbial east coast hump.

As I said over at MHT, I think it's a real shame that ND and Michigan aren't willing to continue scheduling with Miami going forward. We have developed a great rivalry with Michigan in particular and (in most years), both teams benefit from the level of competition and excitement surrounding the games. Michigan always gets the biggest and most enthusiastic crowd at the Goggin and it will be sad to lose that. Perhaps things will change down the road after everything with the new conferences settles down.

That being said, I am super excited to get some new teams coming into Oxford. I'm sure everyone will enjoy an opportunity to battle a B*ston school in our own barn.
