Official 2011-2012 Minnesota State University, Mankato Maverick Hockey Thread

Re: Official 2011-2012 Minnesota State University, Mankato Maverick Hockey Thread

I don't mind the shirts either. I was happy when they went to purple for the road. Black is not a school color. Now if they would just incorporate more gold.

And I don't understand why they don't. Purple and gold, if used the right way, can make some very, very sweet jerseys.

Gaede will probably return a little bit sooner than that with only a separated shoulder, but that's another loss of depth up front of a very talented guy.

Well I think after MSU's sloppy play last night and Tech's win over the Badgers... looks like we might finally be able to lock up that #12 spot this year. Go Mavs! :( (I think it's suiting that the sad face on this site is purple)

If anyone is interested... I used to live in Mankato but am down in Austin,TX now. In Cedar Park we have the Texas Stars AHL team, where Travis Morin currently plays. Went to the "Guys Night with the Stars" last year where they gave a behind the scenes tour and you can meet a few players. Unfortunately Travis Morin wasn't present, but Kael Mouillierat was suited up and on the ice. I think he was pretty surprised to see someone with a Mavs shirt there and we had a brief conversation about Mankato. Some pics here: http://photobucket.com/TXstars Kael was #28, unfortunately he's no longer with the Stars.

And a bit of news from last night's game: "Texas center Travis Morin reached his 100th career point with Texas to surpass the previous team record of 98 points set by Greg Rallo." They play the Oklahoma City Barons again on 10/15. They have some guy named Tyler Pitlick

Well, certainly the weekend no one wanted but some expected. If we played this terrible against Lowell, I can't imagine the trainwreck known as Denver next weekend, especially with the Tech sweep.

That. Was. Atrocious.

I get that we had 4 guys out and one playing severely injured. That doesn't explain the lack of hustle, the lack of want and the lack of urgency. I hope these losses hit these guys pretty hard or it's going to be a ridiculously long year.

Wow....it's obviously been bad, but I didn't realize it was this bad already in the injury department. I didn't realize this many guys were out tonight.

From Freddy's blog:

2. M*A*S*H unit: Eriah Hayes was called for cross-checking in the final seconds of the second period and when the third started he was replaced in the penalty box by Charlie Thauwald. Hayes was taken out of the game with an upper body injury, so add his name to the quickly growing list of banged-up players. J.P. Burkemper, Tyler Elbrecht, Max Gaede, Danny Heath, Zach Lehrke and Josh Nelson all were scratched Saturday with various ailments. "That's well over a quarter of a roster not playing now," Jutting said. The Mavericks were also missing Mike Louwerse, who was called for checking from behind — a major and a game misconduct with about five minutes left in the first period. "It's so frustrating because of all the injuries," Jutting said. "You still gotta go out and compete, but when it rains it pours right now.

Swept by Lowell? You boys are in trouble. Good luck against Denver. lol

Re: Official 2011-2012 Minnesota State University, Mankato Maverick Hockey Thread

Well, Friday in Denver must've been about all we had in the tank.

Hopefully this weekend off will help get SOME guys injured, at this point I don't know that we could fill a full roster...

I just pray we can compete this year. I know we're probably not going to win many games, but if they work hard, we have to appreciate that, too.

MSU-M is having the same problems of injuries that Michigan Tech had last year. ..

Some of us may have unintentionally given MSUM posters the impression we were gloating last Saturday. Under the circumstances, I fully understand how they might have thought that, but we weren't. I apologize for the misunderstanding. We all realize things are tough for the Mavericks now. And we know they'll be a better, perhaps much better team later this season. We meant no disrespect.

Not a problem, Old Pio.

Well, let's hope we're competitive in a rather tough trip to Houghton this weekend!

Get Healthy, GO MAVS!

It was a 6-goal deficit. They came back from being behind 7-1 to win 8-7. I was there.

Happy Thanksgiving, hockey fans!
