NCHC invitees aren't so tough...even in their home rink. Get used to losing, as it will happen a bit more in a couple years.

The beavers played great and always were always able to come back. Saying that definitely warranted creating a new account

...What the hell did I just watch tonight?

Forgive me. Welcome to USCHO, I do hope you drop by after tomorrow evening's game to grace us with your insightful and informed opinions. I think you will be an invaluable addition to our community.

You tell me :(

It seemed like we couldn't keep possession in the offensive zone at all. And the powerplay was atrocious. Credit the Beavers for clogging up the neutral zone and not letting those speedy wingers get going.

Great BSU win, but let's not tick off the opposition any further (losing their home opener as #1 in the country to a highly respected but still small Bemidji State is enough motivation: they don't need any more). We play again tomorrow. Miami will do fine in their new league. On a side note, UND is down 3-2 at home in the 3rd against Air Force coached by BSU coach Tom Serratore's brother Frank. Now if my alma mater NMU beats Wisconsin tonight (up 2-1 in the 3rd), it will be a great night.

Notre Dame falls to Duluth, so no matter which poll you prefer, the #1 team lost the first game of the season. Of course, Notre Dame wasn't playing a home game...

On a more important note, for those of you lucky ones that actually attended the game, what was the musical selection for the penalties? I'm pretty sure I saw some "whooping" going on but couldn't actually hear any music on the webcast.

The whopping is not going away anytime soon. I can assure you of that. And the band played "Dirty Deeds." We need to find a way to bring energy back to the powerplay...

Fwiw we were what, 2 for 5 on the powerplay?. But I know what you mean.

Hurry back Reilly. Tieslings next game should be at BG's senior night.

Sorry to disappoint, Andrew.

On second thought, I'm not sorry to disappoint.

:D

Yea I guess I didn't phrase that appropriately. We were always scrambling on the powerplay. Never in control of the attack.

The NCHC lost one game tonight. We're watching for you to hold up your end of the bargain, Miami. :) It's just one game (and I kind of root for Bemidji State).

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread: Short People Leave Big Shoes to Fill

So going off post counts, Bemidji fans post on USCHO to chirp after winning games? That works, I guess.

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread: Short People Leave Big Shoes to Fill

Wait a minute... were there signs at the game last night????

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread: Short People Leave Big Shoes to Fill

Well, that was disappointing, but not entirely unexpected. Playing without 50% of our scoring from last year was on full display, offensive positing was poor all night long, centering passes with no one in the vicinity, no good chances off rebounds, and generally just could not gain the zone. Going to take some time for this team to gel, but we knew that coming in. What's the defense's excuse?

Getting Reilly back will help, and not just because it means jd will get his wish, and we won't see Tiesling until senior night ;)

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread: Short People Leave Big Shoes to Fill

Nope.

The guys above the net had their sieve sign, but I think they made an exception to let them bring it in.

Then I can blame game day ops for the loss. Props to whoever added the appropriate tags.

For their first "real" test, I thought most of the freshmen forwards played a decent game. But you definitely have a point about the defense, there was some pretty suspicious stuff going on all night (Paulides made me nervous every time he was on the ice). Is Smith playing tonight or do we have to wait until next weekend?

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread: Short People Leave Big Shoes to Fill

Random question, but where the hell was the hobey? I know miami has/had the option to get a replica of it, soooo....

I believe Reilly is out for this series but will be lacing up for Colgate.
