Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

On Reid..hopefully this is a good lesson for him.

What concerned me is that his head coach said he wasn't kicked off the team 'only because of league suspension'.. so what else?

Whatever learning he has to do.. get it out of your system now rather than penalize the Huskies in an important gm/ gms in the coming seasons. We're just paging the good side baby.. :)

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

... i will also add, it was nice to see Milo skate at Vermont, but obviously there were issues with fighting, team cohesion etc.. that got him kicked off of that club (and Cornell before that). I sincerely hope Reid is not (nowhere) like that when he arrives at NU. Again, hopefully this is growing pains.. pls learn fast :)

Well, good luck to Jake, though I hate to see him go.

As for Reid, I think he knows what he's getting into discipline-wise with Cronin. I've got to imagine he'll shape up (and he'd better, with all the hype leading to his matriculation).

More on the Newton signing; interesting that he turned down a deal from the Capitals to go play back in his home state. I think one more year in HE would have helped him but I can't fault him for taking the money.

Ok,...the Newton loss smarts..Good luck Jake. Anyway I suspect good recruits are sadly more likely to leave the likes of an NU more so then a a BU or BC. Why? varied reasons..Most of the the Canadian kids in general just want to get to the Pros, well they all do, but lets face it those affluent kids form the North fork of Long Island that Jackie recruits know the value of a BU degree and for the most part are a bit more likely to pass on a minor league contract if they are en route to a National Championship in the near future or perhaps in Jerry's case the sale of a coveted "BC" degree to any Catholic kid from metro Boston, can put as many or more smiles on the faces of the many generations of, let's say, Ex. the Hingham based "Boyle" family as did a pro contract . There are of course exceptions to the rule, but I think is a problem we are going to have to deal with a lot more then when I played. Perhaps its a good thing...lets face it back in the day most of the good NU players might have had a small stint in perhaps the IHL or lower and if lucky wound up in the better European (Swedish/Fin) or even "Haha" Italy if you were Italian. This was true even as recent as the likes of Jason G. So, I think the signings are a step forward. Show players a direct tract to the NHL or to Major minor and you will continue to get good players form up north. I guess I am disappointed and kind of happy too.

Rossi.. i don't think you realize that today (as always).. $$$$ talks. The kid, any school.. be it a Bourque or Schroeder.. they will lv when they want to. Anyway, since it has been a while since your NU degree.. i have to tell you, that paper's worth a little more today. Serious. Ask around :)

And, FWIW.. what happened to your October promise? (i know.. temptation)

:)

The Kreider selection seems like a joke! The 1st round tag attached to him must have had a lot of influence.

I don't know, having more goals in conference than any other freshman might have something to do with it.

This doesn't hurt, either:

I think Kreider is a special player. He deserved to be on that selection. And Rossi.. he (Kreider) is not going to stick around for the 'sale of that coveted degree' either.. :)

Uh, WRONG! Brandon Brodhag of Merrimack had the same nine goals and added three more assists than Kreider. Same number of games. But Brodhag doesn't go to BC and was undrafted. Don't get me wrong, I think Kreider has a GREAT future ahead of him, probably the most upside of all freshmen, maybe of all players in the league, but he wasn't even the best freshmen forward on his team this year!

Oh yah, DaCosta had nine as well.

He's also not as good. That could be why Kreider got the nod.
My bad. I apologize. I didn't get the note that said it's an award for the best freshmen players, not the ones who had the best seasons!

I love how the BC/BU fans always stick their noses in the NU thread;)
