Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

So tonight's attendance at Matthew's is listed as 4666, so was the BU game earlier this year, I'm assuming both were sellouts. I was on the Matthew's wikipedia page earlier and while I know not to trust wiki entirely it cites this article, http://gonu.com/mhockey/2009/game04.htm , as a source for saying the seating capacity at Matthew's is 5,407... were these seats lost in the renovation or something?

Short answer yes, the seats are bigger, they got rid of some of the awful sight line seats, and the BFD f'ed 'em hard on fire code so at the end of the day they lost close to 1,000 seats (or really capacity, including standing room) where many students go regardless if they have a ticket down low or not...

I shall fix the wikipedia article of this legendary and spectacular venue.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

I just looked into the rest of the HE schedule, and we've got our work cut out for us! The last two games of the season against BU will be the most intense of the season, as we will likely both be battling for home ice (4th and 5th)

I'm going to make a guess (judging by our schedule vs theirs) a split with BU at the end would put us one point behind them, giving us 5th place. Hey, better than 9th like we all feared a couple weeks ago, but we need these boys to REALLY step it up if we want some extra games at Matthews.

Your comment presumes that bu is one point ahead, and in 4th place in HE, of NU going into the last week of the season and no other team can pass either of us. If NU is ahead of bu by 1 point (and in 4th place) at that time, a split would be just fine with me.

Hey if we're up by one on BU in fourth place going into the last weekend, I'd be more than happy with a split. I'm not sayin' - I'm just saying.

..well, you're not missing much. BC moving the puck really well all over the ice.. playing very dominant.

they're up 4-0 in the 2nd (so far)... a split weekend, it shall be.

Kinda happy I wasn't there to see the beating that BC gave us this afternoon. They seemed to pick up right where they left off at the end of the game on Friday.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

Coach will not be happy with the effort today for sure, but some gms.. not sure what you can do. They (the team), will figure this out themselves. They have played well of late & let's remember, we did beat the BC squad Friday so a split (which most of us expected), is not all bad.

Got to pick up the intensity versus UNH, both games! They are solid as well, top to bottom. We have to go for the 'W' at home. Perhaps shoot for a tie up in Durham. But first gm's Friday.. got to go for the kill. Let's put it together again this week. Go Huskies :)

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

What a difference a day and a 1/2 makes Simply stated NU sucked. Out played, no heart and you could have put a grapefruit between the pipes and it would have stopped more shots then Rawlings did.

Too bad, as that was an important game for home ice. Oh well, I say we win the 2 home games if we are lucky. The team lacked heart yesterday.

However, BC made me notice something to, have we been lucky lately..they (BC) looked so skilled and so much faster and bigger. I know you make your luck in hockey but that was the worst performance I have seen in 25 years!

I know we were back on our skates a bit, but they were all in a Coma.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

Reminds me of the Vermont weekend...I would have gladly taken a split going in, but the way it happened (winning the first, collapsing in the second) is just too ugly for words.

That said, maybe they'll respond with another hot streak.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

Rossi.. i usually find some good in your comments as there is a (bitter) truth to them..

But lately you are way too optimistic or way pessimistic. Last yr we blew BC out in the Beanpot.. remember. This type of gm will & does happen time to time.

The truth is always in between. Its college hockey.. team has ups & downs. I think we've played well lately.. i don't think the guys in the locker room liked the way the gm turned out either.

BC has a ton of talent that is tough to beat back-to-back. We got 2 pts. I am sure we'll pick it up again this weekend. Chill :)

Hmmm, so another blowout to a ranked team after previously beating them earlier that weekend?

Let's see if this triggers another 7 game HE winning streak!

A bit off topic, and I posted it on the women's thread, but I figured some of you NU fans might enjoy:

I had put together one for UNH earlier, and had some interest from NU fans, so I put this together.

If anyone'd be interested in a print, or know someone who might be, feel free to check out my online print store, linked below. :D

Good luck the rest of the way (after this weekend ;) )

Gibber, great pics. Nice setup.. wish the outcome (for us), would've been as sweet as that print obviously is.

Awesome work.. ask Butler to take it easy this weekend :)

ps: you should prob post that in the women's hockey thread as well.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

I don’t want to play bc again this year. They have a fantastic team led by Chris “ The Rocket” Kreider. He is the best player in HE; no one is even close.
How did he last so long in last year’s NHL draft. #18; he was the fastest player in the draft; perhaps it was due to his lack of experience in juniors. He played for Andover. The Bruins should offer the Rangers several of the draft picks form the Phil Kessel trade with Toronto. He is a bigger and faster version of Kessel.
Having said the above, now watch them lose tomorrow in a game which means a lot to NU.
