Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

This will be my last post on Kreider. In the World Junior Tournament he had 6 goals and 4 assists in 7 games, including a hat trick against Latvia; high scoring USA player. As a NU fan, I hope that he has out grown bc and will be a one and done and take the $$$$, from the NY Rangers!
The DEA will probably want to talk to you! That's some serious stuff you have.

Kreider may be the best skater in HE, at least in the top 10. Otherwise, what Papagiorgio said. Think about it, he won't even make the HE all-rookie team!

I'd add that DaCosta is probably in the top three offensively and pull Marcou out of there. I've seen enough of DaCosta to be convinced he shouldn't be around much longer. He's going to be a 45 point player as a freshmen. He's really at another level that most of the league won't ever play at. Wish NU had him...

To it looks like Brad's on a hot streak as of late with the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins. They'll be in Providence against the "Bruins" March 12th. If we didn't have a HE tourney to worry about, I'd say we should go sporting some NU jerseys to cheer him on!

Too bad... it'd be fun to show our support to the man who left us hanging this year... wait... should I be ****ed?

*Rawlings! Rawlings! Rawlings!*

People should have gone to Lowell this past Sat to see him shut out the devils. Too bad I didn't think of it until late.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thie

That's how I felt today. I just typed him into google news out of the blue (bored at co-op) and the first thing that popped up was his shutout just around the corner!

Oh well... Well have to plan something for next time and get a group to go

So how are we in 6th behind BU when we have the same wins/losses/games played/points?? I thought we'd be ahead of them at least, behind Lowell if we got to this stage?

I'm guessing us, Lowell, and BU are all tied, and that's how they ordered it. Lowell has the TB over us, we currently have a TB over BU, and I think BU has a TB over Lowell. I think the ordering was made that way until a true break was formed. Unless I'm missing some hidden Hockey East rule

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

I think the ordering was made that way because of the alphabet. The standings on the site are unofficial, but as of now NU does have the tiebreaker over BU and Lowell has the breaker over NU.

next week is going to be incredibly important, as it could turn out that NU and bu play each other in the first round and the final regular season series could determine location. It's a shame that it's the end of spring break for NU and I believe the beginning of break for bu.

Funny how we could probably end up playing BU 5 games in a row....

Ugh too many men on the ice, twice in one weekend? Come on boys....

You know what else is painful to see twice in one weekend? Getting an early lead both games and finishing the weekend without a win, all while having season stats like these:

13-1-1 when scoring first
7-0-1 when leading after 1
12-0-1 when leading after 2

Ouch...

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

Congrats to UNH.. found a way both nights to get it done.

That blown 'must win' gm yesterday..could (and prob will), end up costing us home ice. That's the long & short of it.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

home ice?? We won't be seeing that. Look at the stats now...

Considering UVM is at Lowell both nights next week, I'd be surprised if sweeping BU would even be enough for home ice. Notice, now with 25 points, if UML wins just one game, we lose in the tiebreaker with them.

That means we need UVM to take at least 3 points from them. At 22 points now, that means that if UVM beats BU tomorrow, we'd lose the tiebreaker with them.

Bottom line, if UVM ties BU tomorrow, and UVM wins one and ties one with UML, and we do the same (win & tie) against BU...

home ice!

....but that's a lot of "ands"

My prediction? We look for revenge against BC at BC in the QF's, and lose a close third game, after a win in game one, and a blowout in game two.

Look at the stats now...

..i know. That's why i was referring to that 1 additional point blown (yesterday's gm).. huge.

How the team plays on the road against whomever.. BC, Maine, BU.. will be up to them. They will not make it easy on the opponent i'm sure.. and they don't make it easy on themselves either!

Nxt weekend's showing will go a long way in the kind of momentum they carry into the post season. I'm sure they want to be at the Garden, just as much as we'd like them to. Its always been up to the team. Nothing changes that tonight :)

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

What planet are you guys on?
Are they still teaching math at NU? If "it's" and "buts" were candy and nuts..NU would have had a terrific season. They have not. They played better down the stretch and made adjustments. However, they are not talented enough...remember the goal is the national championship. They are light years from it.

They have had leads they can not hold on the road and at home. They have surrendered last second goals, and have been unable to finish and close out contests.

A young team..yes, but lets face it there is always some issue some excuse, that's hockey. However, take a look back at the history, for me its just another season w/o a bean pot and another looking up at BU, BC or both ahead of us...when it counts ...in March.

Newsflash, There is still a possibility we don't make the playoffs at all. Also, ask yourself this, do we really deserve to be there?

I was at both games this weekend and the the game at BC last week. I don't want to hear that these were the top teams in the league, bottom line to be in Hockey East it's always been about 3 teams NH, BU and BC.

So far we are 2 -5 -1 and we could wind up 2-7-1 against the meat of the league, I am still hoping for a split next week at best.

Here is the issue, Rawlings looks like a deer in the headlights against high powered offense when the good teams start to amp it up through the neutral zone, tonight in the 3rd he looked lost. That's why he got pulled tonight.

How often do we out shoot a team? They could have and should have been 4 more goals in the 1st two periods tonight, they don't pull the trigger. They wait and then screw up an extra pass, a pass that should have never been taken in the 1st place.

I hear through my grapevine that Cronin might be on the trail of another goalie in the BCHL just in the event you were unaware, not that Rawlings is bad, but let's face it when the chips are on the line he has been far from steller against teams with good records.

If you think this post is a bit negative..your damm right it is..That said it will be my last for this season.

See you in October.

??? He played the entire gm.. he was pulled with a min & change for the extra attacker.. right?

Anyway you slice it.. he looked good in the 'Pot.. he's still our best hope nxt wknd.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

And Rossi... Rawlings is a freshman!

Up or down.. overall he's had a decent first season & its not over..

Tonight.. our offense scored 38 secs into the gm.. then fell asleep. That's not goaltending.. he needs more offensive support.. perhaps he gave up a weak goal, no doubt.

Look at Millan or Muse.. it happens. But they have the offensive support. For him, the lack of goal support.. that does catch up to you more often than not. I have a lot of faith in him. And i might add, the coaching staff does too.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

I beg to differ. Our offense didn't fall asleep right after Kraemer's goal. They were sharp and opportunistic for the first two period. Foster played a terrific game. He left very few rebounds for second chances and must have stopped five wrap around attempts by our guys. We had zero puck luck in the UNH end.
They did fall asleep in the third period while trying to protect the lead. How many times have we seen that happen?:(

Silva must have found his way deep into Cronin's doghouse for him to be benched and Dave Strathman used as a 4th line forward in his place. What a waste of D Daniels and Tuck's time to be flanking a RD.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

I can't blame Cronin for benching Silva on Saturday night. He took a very dumb and undisciplined penalty in the 3rd period Friday just because he wanted revenge for getting his stick slashed before he was thrown out of the faceoff. While it didn't cost the team anything, that resulting powerplay could have tied the game up. It is inexcusable for a senior to take a dumb penalty like that.

Silva is a junior, unfortunately. He may have a hard time getting ice time next year if he doesn't straighten out his "stupidity management" problem. He has some skill, but this year he has been negatively productive. I suspect that his 2-6-8 line is somewhat less than our opponents have amassed while he has been in the penalty box. You expect that from your defensemen, but not from your first or second line center.:(
