Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

I was impressed with NU Athletics' responsiveness regarding the 'I'm on co-op and didn't have a shot to get tix' situation. Evidently they sent out e-mails yesterday explaining that 100 or so tickets would be distributed to co-op students last night. They need to make that a regular part of ticket distribution, otherwise those of us on co-op are SOL.

I've been thinking about the game tonight the entire ride home, and I just kept repeating the same word to myself over and over: wow. The energy in Matthews was absolutely ridiculous.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

In what might be the greatest college hockey game I have ever seen and I have seen hundreds. NU beat BU 1 to 0, before a sold out Matthews crowd of nearly 5180. Chris Rawlings 6 foot 5 inch Jolly Green Giant of freshman goalie from the BCHL made 43 of the greatest save I have ever seen. Came close to be thrown out in front of my kids and ex wife. So much fun! I have never seen a performance like this in 25 years of games at NU. The last 4:11 BU plays a man up because of the biggest "***" call I have ever seen. My season tix 1/2 pack package did not include this game so I had seats right behind the BU bench and I heckled those "losers" like they have never been heckled. All those useless Rich Long Island "NHL" draft picks couldn't get one bye a farm boy from British Columbia who wasn't even drafted. Hah ha! RAWLINGS WAS ON FIRE.
Shots from the, left circle, right circle shots from in the crease. It just did not matter. NU was out shout 43 to like 23 I mean its was like he was almost not human. You had to be there. UN ****ING REAL!

That was just RAW!!!

good job by concessions as well (they can't help the long lines with the space they're given; but def did their homework on food fulfillment) :).

I don't care what school you play for.. its always nice to see the world's oldest hockey rink packed. Win or lose that's a story you can talk about..

Night all.. great gm to watch

I don't even know how many hundred games I have seen, but I was saying during and after that tonight was one of the best regular season games I have ever witnessed, so you are not alone. I thought the Huskies played better than the shot totals would indicate. That said, Rawlings was unbelievable tonight as well. He made some nice saves even on several redirected shots and looked very comfortable for the most part. FANTASTIC win for the Huskies and an incredible environment tonight at the old barn. However, I completely disagree with you about the penalty call. It was a good call and one that had to be made. It was a pretty stupid play on the part of Hewkin. It might not have been so bad if he hadn't put the guy in a headlock on the way into the boards.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

No BC gameday thread so i'll post here.. Muse saved (salvaged) the tie for them up at UNH last night. BC was up like 4-1, before gm ending in 4-4 tie.

Rawlings earned the 'W' for us. Just so you know.. on first 4 BC goals.. they were all PP i think 4 for 4 on the PP up until that point.. so they have that clicking.

No dumb penalties tonight pls. Something tells me this will be the harder of the two gms this weekend.

Go Huskies :)

I firmly believe that I have never heard a louder sound than when the puck was cleared with about 40 seconds left after the puck was just floating around the crease for a few seconds. Ever.

Oh, and Dear Northeastern,
You now have some of the coolest jerseys in college hockey (thank you for finally giving us retro homes)...Do not alter them again. Ever.

Sincerely,
Your fans

Quoted For Truth

Brad Who?

I agree with some of the above posts about this being one of the best games I've ever seen (or most fun...)

What an exciting night. Beating the defending national champions in front of a sold out crowd... I like the trend we've got going

What kind of crowd can I expect to see at BC tonight? Hopefully the excitement form last night spiked some interest?

I'm going to say the black jersey takes the cake on this one... I love it...

Oh definitely, but now our at least our homes are stepping up to the plate

“He was all alone, but he didn’t have much to shoot at,” Rawlings said. “I just took everything away.”

I like the attitude....

“Right up there,” he said. “I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life. The arena … I can’t even explain it — unbelievable feeling.”

Way to go, DogHouse

Does anyone have a pic of these new home jerseys? Or know where I can view them? I bought a new Black Jersey last year and if the White's are anything like that, I'm ready to buy now!

So glad they finally a) got rid of road reds b) unified the home and aways. They look real good.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

NU played without Drew Muench (out at least another month), Garrett Vermeersch, (sick), and lost Tyler McNeeley half way through the 2nd period upper body injury.
BU played without Warsofsky and Bonino. Both teams will have a different look on Monday February 1st.
Matt Lipinski played well. He is a physical force and he can skate! Robie Vrolyk is going to break out one of these games, he has great speed and moves. I thought Alex Tuckerman scored the goal instead of Wade MacLeod. Hope that potential recruits were present. Jake Newton is going to be a great D man; David Strathman’s best game ever.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thiessen

Wow....just wow. Great atmosphere, great game, and the home crowd goes home happy.

I think BU's shot totals were a little inflated, since they seemed to just want to test Rawlings early and often with some questionable shot choices. All it accomplished was to get him in the zone and comfortable sooner.

We, on the other hand, are clearly still pressing on offense. I think I saw a few flashes last night, but there are times where we just looked lost out there. That being said, we have to talent to get it going so I'm waiting for us to bust out any night now. It could take half a season (or more) for these freshmen to get used to playing with each other. I'll be at BC tonight and hoping to see a great turnout from the NU loyal. Even three points this weekend would be fantastic.

I'll be there, hopefully not watching the letdown game I'm expecting. I'm anxious to see how Rawlings comes off the best game of his life and am hoping to God we can get some scoring from our 2nd and third lines (or any of them...really). Here's hoping for a point.
