Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

Boy this one got far to close than it should have. Nice win on the road in a hostile environment.

Not sure if anyone is aware of the trouble Connor Knapp had, but he didn't make the bus on wednesday. From the sounds of it it was planned as he had a flight scheduled up today but had issues with it. Apparently there was fog and the plane couldn't land and had to go back to chicago. I guess he finally got up there and made it to the arena tonight but didn't dress. I am guessing NMU knew this and was the reason they took so many run's at Cody tonight. Good thing it didn't get too out of hand and he got hurt because Saska was the only other goaltender dressed tonight.

Well hopefully tomorrow they don't have to hold onto a 4-0 lead and can win more comfortably. Cudos to NMU for not giving up and boy they turned it on in the third period. Miami needs to match that intensity tomorrow that they will come out with.

Just caught the box score so I can't really comment on game specifics, but how about Vaive twice in 41 seconds? Way to go big guy! Good to see him lighting the lamp.

Sweep would be huge, hope we can pull it off. Alarming story about Knapp there RHM. Good to see everything worked out.

Yea I don't know why he didn't take the bus but it was interesting nonetheless.

At the end of the day a Win is a Win, I am sure the boys will learn they can't take the foot off the petal but they need the win tomorrow night going into Michigan next weekend.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

Does it seem like the top few teams have been mirroring each other? When we lose a game, other top teams lose a game. When we pull out a 1-goal win, other top teams do so as well. Miami, BC, and Denver with 4-3 wins last night and BU with a 5-4 (they always ruin everything...).

Happy Halloween! Let's scare some Cats!

"Michigan cruises; MSU, ND and NMU win close"

"FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Michigan was the only CCHA to claim an easy win Friday night after opening a 5-1 win over Lake Superior with four-straight goals. Notre Dame, Michigan State and Northern Michigan all won close contests while Bowling Green picked up a shootout win over Nebraska-Omaha"

Oops? At least the story itself got things straight...

The Knapp situation sounds like the flu to me. Could be Reichard again tonight.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

I'll take the first 40 minutes of the game last night. The first 20 was pretty much feeling each other out, then the second was us playing our game and dominating possession, great transition, and working the corners. The last 20 we took our foot off the pedal and tried to coast to a win playing a 1-1-3 prevent in the offensive zone, and on the big ice with the playmakers that NMU has that's a death sentence. We need to come out tonight firing like we did in the beginning of the game last night, and for once not let up. Who cares if you're up 4-0, make it 8-0, don't just sit back and try to hang on to the win (look at the Bluejackets last night and how that worked for them).

You think? To me listening to Greg last night it sounded like this was a planned thing. Thats an expensize plane ticket last min...

But glad he is there, if it is the flu I don't see why you would play him. But it is nice to have him in case of injury. Miami would of been in deep trouble had Cody gotten hurt and boy they were crashing the net hard last night.

Does anyone have a link to something in place of game tracker and/or an audio feed?

Great sweep against a good team on the road. Can't say enough about how good this will be down the stretch. Another great Period #2. Nice job guys. Hope everyone can start getting better from the flu.

Just need to shout out my congrats to the football team.

redeagle- looks like you were right. Reichard played unbelievable tonight. 3 breakaways stopped was huge. Weber played tonight after suffering from the flu. Which makes me scratch my head to the fact that Tomassoni sat and Spinell played. Weber played well so I won't second guess.

Honestly, I watched the game tonight and Miami is lucky to get out of there with a sweep. They looked flat at times tonight. Even with the great puck possesion they had. Now that could of been because of the poor video but Miami just didn't look to be moving well out there. A win is a win and any win on the road is good.

Big series next weekend in Ann Arbor, a split would be great IMO. I had originally said a 6-4 start with this schedule would be solid so to start 7-2-1 would be even better.

Regardless of the outcome next weekend, we've already cleared the 6-4 mark. Michigan looked sharp this weekend againist LSSU, so we should be in for a couple of competitive games. Just make sure Yost's structure is good to go for Friday night! :D

Listened to the game on Marquette radio, and they were really playing up how solid Cody was tonight. Makes hockey a lot easier with your goalie in the zone. Great sweep for the team! Football and hockey undefeated this weekend! Time for some celebrating Halloween style.

no need to play it up, Cody played really well and the reason they won tonight.

Even clearing the 6-4 mark, you need atleast a split in ann arbor for several reasons. It will be a great series and hopefully a better outcome than we had there last year.

Be safe out there, and live it up!

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

so with my home sweeps road splits prediction for the first ten, 6-1-1 is better than 6-2-0, although we're very close to being 8-0-0 honestly, or rather 7-1-1 (swap the MSU loss for a tie, UNH tie for a win).

didn['t know most the boys are battling the flu, and still came out with 4.... wait 6 points... get another W in AA next week that'd be huge.

Tomassoni was scratched due to the flu so I guess he had it "worse."

We were lucky to get out of there with Saturday's win.

Friday, we let the foot off the gas when we got up by four, and I gotta say, there is no lead that seems safe in hockey these days...Oilers blow 5-1 lead to Wings the other night and lose in shootout...Flames blow 5-0 lead to Hawks and lose in OT...there was some game in April where a team lost a two-goal lead in the last minute, etc. Comebacks are all the rage in every level of hockey it seems. You just have to keep playing to win.

With our record at Yost, a split is the same as a sweep. I'm going Saturday night so will meet up with anyone who's there.

I would hope so! considering that neither #2 Denver, #3 NoDak, nor #4 BU swept this weekend.

Doesn't matter. The real test comes next week at Michigan. We should have a very good idea about this team after. Frankly, I don't know if we're the #1 team in the country, but as we learned last year, all that matters is getting into the tournament!
