Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

Wasn't refering to you, the comment was made about everyone at the arena at the time I believe. You absolutely should expect them to win, i expect them to win but there is also a rational side too. To downplay a team coming into the weekend at 6-1-1 isn't rational IMO.

Well I was at the arena at the time and I am a student so I thought you were referring to me as well so my bad. Yes I consider myself confident in the team but I definitely have a rational side too. In this case I just think we are the far superior team, plus UNO is playing on the road and their road record is less than respectable. On top of that, UNO has never had success in Oxford so taking all that into consideration I was very confident this weekend. No hard feelings hope Miami continues to chug along tomorrow :)

Haha that is great!

If (when?) UNO goons it up at the start of the game tomorrow I am calling on VAIVE to tally the Gordie Howe (as long as we don't instigate it). Would be great to see him rack up some more points this weekend with the effort he's been putting out there since Lake State.

Him and C Mac definitely have some "Unfinished Business" with some of their players.

Nothing there to disagree with. Miami is obviously the superior team that, I dont think, was ever in doubt. I just never thought, and still don't, you should discount this UNO team. When looking at everything there are a lot of things to be worried about in regards to this team. Their Head Coach being one of them.

No hard feelings, never is. No point in hashing out feelings on a message board. Well 95% of the time :D

Id say from the start of the year not just lake st., but you are right he has performed well. Vaive has flurished this year and it's great to see him improve as much as he has since his freshman year. He has a role and he knows what it is and does it extremely well. Me and '95 made the comments early in the season about his play. And for '95 to say means a lot, he wasn't the biggest fan of him his freshman year lol :D

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

After a "down" junior year Palmer is on fire. When this team seems to have one of the most balanced offenses in the country with that many guys over 20 and 30 points, he won't settle. He's up to 38 now, which is good enough for #14 nationally (3rd CCHA player). He is tied with Dalpe for the lead in conference points, and Miele is just a couple behind at #3.

Palmer is on an 8 game scoring streak, with a line of 6-10--16. In 8 games. Wow. If we skip the one game off he had where he didn't score, and go back two more games he has 8-12--20 in the past 11 games.

And just think, he's on our 1B line. Ha, no use calling it second line when really his or wingles could be the first one either night.

very true, you have a 1a 1b and 1c line. To think Canonnoe is on your so called "third" line shows your depth. Hell when you have steffes not even dressing every night it shows to your depth, speaking of him he has been a head scratcher this year...

Seriously. Feel bad for the kid. He had a fantastic season last year, but I think this time around he didn't seem to be that effective when he was on the ice. I remember in the games seeing him not thinking he was making bad plays, but he didn't seem to be doing anything particularly well. That may have led to him only posting 1 point in his what, 12 or so games. And also on the line of seniors, watch out for the Smith. Brandon, and Reilly for that matter, both have 3 goals in the last 2 games. Yes... Brandon...

"Some scrappy and chippy moments over the last couple of weeks, but opponents know they have to be physical coming in if they want to be successful in this building. If you're not, with a team like Miami and their depth, get on the bus, grab your Bagel and Deli and go home."

Wow, glad I taped the game tonight. That was the quote of the broadcast.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

I don't think it's wise to overlook a team coached by Dean Blais. He has his guys playing very good hockey right now. There was a great article about him on USCHO earlier this week.

Let's not get crazy. Blais is a good coach, but to compare him to Herb Brooks is superfluous.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

sloppy sloppy game tonight. Miami got some fortunate bounces and they frustrated UNO. Always good to get a win when you don't play your best.

Boy Greg Wadel is hard to listen to sometimes. Love his enthusiasm but geez. Little advice if he reads this, if your going to cover college hockey atleast read the rule book so you can know what is going on instead of stumbling over words and reporting 4 different penalties on the same call.....

Also once again McKenzie walks that thin line once again, I tell you what he is going to really cost this team in a big spot one day and I just hope that it isn't in an extremely important game. The UNO player was ridiculous for what he did from the bench and then trying to jump over after him, but McKenzie had no business being over by there bench at that point. I love the way he plays and he is the type of guy that you want on your team but someone has to pull the reins back a little bit on him.

I am starting to see a pattern with this team. That would be they are clogging things up and shutting teams down so well it is absolutely sending teams over the deep end. Typical in hockey when you can't succeed you get frustrated and lash out. That seems to be what is going on when you look back at the last few weeks. Miami is just beating up on teams and they finally can't take anymore and start the rough stuff.

All in all a win is a win no matter how you get it. Cody wasn't tested but I bet he wants that first goal back, looked a little shaky at times but made more saves than the other guy and thats all that matters. Another 3 pt night for Palmer and he is now the team leader in points, way to show senior leadership!!

I agree with virtually all of this.

And, I think you're right about teams simply getting frustrated and unfortunately, Miami is taking the bait in some instances. We need to play with more composure.

Rico was steaming mad at McKenzie for getting involved with Ambroz by the UNO bench. You don't often see that but the ONN camera (for what it's worth...not much) was right on him and he grabbed CMac and essentially pulled him back onto the Miami bench.

Cody certainly wants the first back but as others have said, Camper played a 1-on-1 like a 2-on-1!

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami season thread part II: Unfinished Business

I glanced over at mavpuck to see what they were saying and there is a whole thread about the bush league coverage of the game. Assuming the NHLN picked up ONN's feed. I haven't had the pleasure of watching a game on ONN before but I love when you check out the Miami all access recaps on Monday and half the goals are not even shown going in.

It is what it is. Unless you're going to find some corporate sponsors to step up the production value or convince FSN to commit resources they don't have to Oxford, it ain't gonna happen. With the CBJ and Cavs extending their capabilities, there's no way we'll get on FSN-O any time soon.

I wish it was better, but as a season-ticket holder living in Columbus, I'm grateful I can see the games considering it's hard to make every Friday night home game...like last night. But, I'll be there tonight.

Better radio coverage should be a no-brainer. I'm surprised they can't find a station to provide consistent coverage.

EDIT: Thank goodness for DVR because at least I can rewind as many times as I want to figure out what actually happened on a given play!

easy their killer, read to the bottom before getting flustered. Your absolutely entitled to your opinion, never said you weren't. UNO still isn't overrated, they are a good team. What you learned tonight, and what we all thought is that Miami is better.

What happened tonight doesn't prove your point. Your argument was that UNO being 6-1-1 isn't impressive and them being "hot" doesn't mean anything because they haven't beaten anyone so to speak. I was playing devils advocate about Miami because frankly Miami hasn't played anyone lately and no one is saying what they have done recently isn't impressive because it is. There for what UNO had done coming into this weekend still is and was impressive. They are still a TUC and anytime you are a TUC you are a good club. Your downgrading UNO and I think thats foolish. You can't call UNO overrated when they lose to the best team in the country. Don't get hostile, this is called a debate....

Yeah we may not have played anyone of substance lately but we beat the pants off of anyone that comes into town, or us going to see someone. Sure, UNO may be hot in regards that they've won the past 6 of their 8 games, but "hot" in standards of being a team that we should be looking for in the NCAA tournament. Sure maybe they have a chance of going far in the CCHA tournament, but beyond that...i doubt it.

And I can call UNO overrated when not only are they losing to the best team in the country but getting SPANKED. Any ranked team that they have faced this year, they have gotten owned.

As for UNO, i say good luck in the WCHA next year...they're going to need it. ;)

This is epic. Well done.

The cheesy gold chain kinda adds something to it, don't you think?

EDIT: Working on brief game recap at Jackets Required (jacketsrequired.blogspot.com) and MU Hockey Blog (muredhawkshockey.blogspot.com). Care to guess what the image is gonna be?
