Defense of Marriage is going the way of its philosophical and ethical twin, Segregation (it's the same Defenders of the One True Faith, after all -- they just switched parties in the 60's realignment). There will be brackish backwaters where that stupidity will be a way of life a hundred or a thousand years from now -- them "god fearin'" folk will squabble in the dirt with fundamentalist stone knives and bear skins long after civilization has shrugged and moved on to those garden planets on Yes album covers.
But the days when the GOP could drag a gay guy behind a truck to pick up votes on the national ticket are coming to an end, and we're all better off for it. Man as a whole does slowly emerge from the slime.

There are numerous examples of Goldman Sachs and other robber barons taking money and you choose Max? He offers some...interesting...opinions. My personal favorite was that Saving Private Ryan was a cinematic failure because it didn't have a sappy love story like Titanic. I suppose if Matt Damon had broken away from the fighting to get busy with a French chick it would have been better...

Cripes, not being able to marry would be a step in the right direction for a lot of heterosexuals, so I don't know why the gays want it so badly. Maybe they're jealous of the divorce settlements and alimony payments?
Not allowing a group of people to get married isn't in the same universe as "separate but equal", but by all means, continue with the ridiculous hyperbole.

Yep - and it turns up in places where you might not expect, too. Much as we tend to think of Europeans as progressives, one of the cantons (states) of Switzerland gave women the right to vote in 1990 (not a typo). Boggles my mind...

Well, we still have picking on mentally handicapped kids. Oh, wait, that's your deal isn't it? Just yesterday you ran to the barricades to dismiss that slimy attack on Trig Palin as false outrage and his mother's fault because she uses her kids as props (the way every political figure for at least the last 100 years has done). Your first instinct was to defend Wonkette. You like Wonkette (although it used to be better). But under no circumstances, upon pain of death, would you even get in the same time zone with conceeding that what they did crossed the line. So stop lecturing about small weenies and dragging gays behind trucks and all the rest of your meager quiver of insults. Wonkette has apologized, that latent heterosexual who wrote the piece has apologized, but you evidently think it was fair comment. You defended it and uttered not a single word of criticism. Not that it matters to someone so utterly stupified by his own brilliance as you are, but this episode represents a true low, even for you.
