I'm giving up on America. There is no chance any politician will ever succeed in dismantling "entitlements", whether or not they are paid for. So the sooner it all collapses, the better.

Tea party favorite Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has officially moved to the left of Donald Trump.

The Minnesota Republican told ABC's George Stephanopoulos Wednesday that the certificate of live birth released by then-candidate Barack Obama in 2008 should satisfy "birthers" who don't believe he is a natural born U.S. citizen.

"I have the president's certificate right here," Stephanopoulos told her. "It’s certified, it’s got a certification number. It’s got the registrar of the state signed. It’s got a seal on it. And it says 'this copy serves as prima facie evidence of the fact of birth in any court proceeding.'"

"Well then that should settle it," she said.

"So it’s over?" the ABC host asked.

"That’s what should settle it. I take the president at his word and I think– again I would have no problem and apparently the president wouldn’t either. Introduce that and we’re done. Move on," Bachmann replied.

Last night on Sean Hannity's Fox News show, Bachmann likewise claimed that Obama "should show his birth certificate" to settle the issue -- apparently unaware that he had done so in 2008. Similarly, it was clear from her appearance with Stephanopoulos that she was utterly unaware that the document he presented to her was the same birth certificate that Trump and other Birthers claim doesn't establish the president's native Hawaiian birth.

Maxine is fighting for the greater good. If millionaires and billionaires have to give up what they stole for Amerika to join the rest of the civilized world, so be it.

They worked hard to steal that money! It would be wrong for the government to steal it back.

If only Congress would stop stealing from the rich. Who is Obama kidding thinking he's going to steal more?? Silly Muslim, he should know better.

So, which ones stole the money? Gates? Walton? Ellison? Buffet? The Google guys? Phil Knight?

Turn them in. And since every dollar they make comes at the expense of your income, when they are put in jail your income will soar and then you can make up the difference in taxes.

But this does put Republicans in a tricky position. Their traditional position on gay marriage is becoming less popular. But to the extent they disengage from the issue, they may lose even more ground. One way to read the trends of the past few years is that we have passed an inflection point wherein it is no longer politically advantageous for candidates to oppose same-sex marriage, which in turn softens opposition to it among the general public, creating a sort of feedback loop and accelerating the trend.

They lost "welfare" (racism) and now they've lost "marriage" (homophobia). About all* that's left in the bag o' fears is Birtherism, so it makes sense they'd embrace it.

* Well, there's still "immigration" (racism) and "right to life / abstinence" (various Thunder God sexual fears with a dollop of misogyny). For the GOP, where there's ignorance and terror, there's hope. ;)
