Give SEIU a chance and maybe you'll see the stock market crash.

LOL. You're going to have to decide whether black people or unions caused the financial crisis. Get those talking points right.

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

What a steaming pile of...

Yeah, well, there are some interesting parallels between American righties now and the fascist far right during WW II. Hyper-nationalism. Militarism. Agrarian-Populism. Homophobia. Fear of immigrants. Proponents of a "traditional" role for women.

But of course, the situations aren't "directly analogous"...

Homophobia was a major issue during WWII? Do tell. My, my, we're a little touchy today aren't we? Like the American left has been right there at the barricades, through the Cold War and right down to whatever it is that "the one" is up to in Libya. And like many libs aren't struggling to find justification for this particular "war of choice" and a plausible way to differentiate it from their anti-Bush blather. I'm enjoying this tremendously.

I'm just glad the budget crisis is over.

Huh? Is the former head of SEIU black?

It was black people in a union.

Who had just had an abortion.

And were also gay.

You missed educated (and so, by definition, not "Real Amurka.") ;)

Funnily enough, the people who caused the financial crisis actually were educated. Well, they were degreed, anyway -- I doubt too many MBAs and traders have much in the way of an appreciation for history, philosophy, or, frankly, anything important.

(Note that any MBA or trader reading this is of course exempt since they care about college hockey.)

Yah, those Agrarian-Populists are just tearing up the American political landscape these days!:p

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

We know it wasn't Wall Street, or the banks, or the SEC that caused it. That's for sure. It was the regular folks. The same folks that are bankrupting the States with their rich benefit packages.

Hopefully the point has been made (draw silly parallels at your own risk). :)

They're also STEALING!!!!!!111!!!11! from the rich via income tax.

If only we would realize that the top decile is anointed by God.

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

Let's make sure we have our nomenclature straight: when Unions refer to "working families" they're talking about themselves. The rest of us don't count and presumably don't work either.

During my Houston days I dated a lady in the shipping industry. And she said one of the most coveted ILA sinecures at the port of Houston was the guy who sat in a lawn chair, with a thermos bottle, counting the containers as they were moved on to or off of the ships. "1. . . . .2. . . . .3" Challenging and exhausting.

And the Tribune says Illinois is "only" 40 billion in the hole for teacher pensions. Laugh that away at the next IWW meeting.

Who gives a rip? The only folks that matter are those making 200 grand +. Those folks are job creators, they're paying all the taxes, they're doing all the real work, they're suffering, man. We don't need to give them another tax cut. We need to stop stealing their money in the first place.

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

So this child is who you are comparing to fascists around WW2? Well, that's interesting.

They had cute kids too.

We'll leave aside the point was I was making fun of your wingnutty comparison of 2011 and 1939, not the other way around.

Clearly it's union goons who've made America great. It's just a matter of time before Tony Boyle and Jimmy Hoffa are put on Mt. Rushmore.

Me, wingnutty? Surely you jest, Shirley.

Hey, you provided that as an example of agro-populism, not me. But, I guess if one little girl holds some sign up, that's conclusive evidence of your 1939-2011 linkage you claim.

Yeah, because the four guys on there were clearly anti-union corporate masters. Jefferson didn't end the slave trade with Africa, Abe Lincoln didn't end domestic slavery, and Teddy Roosevelt wasnt a trust buster. All would clearly be like Scott Walker if they lived today.

Like bats fluttering out that cave every evening in Austin.

I never joke about my work, 007.

And don't call me Shirley.

I wouldn't have pointed out the silliness of it if you were one of the usual wingnut apologists. The atypicality of the statement made it remarkable. Usually you are (somewhat) saner.
