Re: Obama XVII: Do You Take Your Tea Party with One Sugar or Two?

Some sources say Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990. Why hasn't he denied it?

Now of course I am in no way suggesting Mr. Beck is a rapist or murderer, but still, it seems suspicious, and troubling evidence continues to mount. Where's there's smoke there could be fire...

I didn't know you read FARK.com; Still one of my favorite meme's, though. Get a chuckle everytime.

So, one Fark meme is better than an large pile of evidence at this point? Yes?

edit: Whenever you look into Obama's history you find himself all over the parts of the active socialist movements of the US through the 80s and 90s. Again, to say as before, to believe him a moderate is to believe him to be the most conservative person in his own life. Its all over the place, this is why nobody has really dug into him and his life, they know what they'll find. So, please tell me, which events are the lies?

You've associated Obama with socialism. Regardless of whether it's true, how dare you, to summarize what I've been told before. If your experience matches mine, you will soon receive multiple posts claiming it's the equivalent of calling him Hitler or Stalin. And people will actually be serious.

Re: Obama XVII: Do You Take Your Tea Party with One Sugar or Two?

Who cares what he did in his youth? How about we talk about the policies which he has promoted and passed (and compromised on) and then evaluate that. He has pushed for some pretty liberal things, but has frequently compromised back to very moderate ideas. The health care plan that ended up getting passed was essentially the Republican proposal from the Clinton years. The banking regulations are a bunch of useless rules that don't actually change anything. He has yet to change anything on military policy, hasn't closed Guantanamo, hasn't stopped warantless wiretapping etc. I don't see how anyone could logically call any of his policies socialist. (Unless you count calling for universal health care, but he didn't make any serious push for it)

His spending surely isn't moderate.

The lost lesson of Thanksgiving

In lieu of the upcoming holiday

The page won't load, but I'll guess:

This is why a minimal BA requirement from an accredited college should be instituted for suffrage.

And so is this.
How about the citizenry test? If you can't pass it, you can't vote. I'd vote for that (after a little studying).

Re: Obama XVII: Do You Take Your Tea Party with One Sugar or Two?

So "socialism" doesn't work because a bunch of elitist thieves nearly 400 years ago wouldn't help out?

Seriously talk about pick and choosing your facts for best effect. Most early colonies had those kind of problems regardless of SOCIALISM or not because the people coming over were not farmers and were not people who thought they should have to do manual labor. These people thought they were so entitled that they would end up starving to death rather than work in a field.

What was the one I think Charleston like for the first 20 years or so they kept losing the majority of the population every year because they just wouldn't do anything.

Oh I know! How about a poll tax? Seems like a good idea to me...

I get what you're saying, but I think things are just fine as they are. So some people vote stupidly, who cares?

It's sillier than that, since it's a basic logical error to take these concepts that mean something to us and reimpose them back on a time when they meant nothing because all the actors, motivations and philosophies were completely different. It would be just as accurate to say that the Cistercians, who were communistic and revived the economy of western Europe in the 12th century, "prove" socialism works.

But to a Misean man with only an Austrian hammer who believes social "laws" are as invariant as gravity, it all makes sense. It's very reminiscent of whichever of those books Marx wrote where he did a historical analysis of Europe since the stone age and "discovered," surprise, that the political and cultural aspects of every age are simply derivative of materialist relations to the means of production.

I'll bet it was gratifying to him when he realized, shockingly, that he'd been right. ;)

One universal test that asks simple questions on what is contained within the constitution. Not "interpretations" of it, just the exact wording in it. Too bad that'd drop the voting percentage at least in half.

Right. That would totally be applied fairly.

Re: Obama XVII: Do You Take Your Tea Party with One Sugar or Two?

Since you obviously missed the point. The point was: it's too much and they all do it.

Since you obviously missed my point. They all do it, but what we are doing now unprecendented.

I'm sure I missed everybody's point, but how much of that spending is the stimulus, an emergency measure that prevented another Depression, and how much is inherited from commitments made by prior administrations and Congresses and in no way Obama's doing? Whoever has the misfortune to be president when the Boomers stop picking their navel lint in their offices and start picking their navel lint on the golf course is going to be responsible for an enormous deficit even if he doesn't spend one new penny.

I don't want to let Obama off the hook -- he could have ended both wars on Inauguration Day with a stroke of the pen and saved a ton of money (and lives, but those are cheap I guess since we're willing to throw them away on invasions). But let's not load him down with all the errors of his predecessors; I'm sure there will be enough for his opponents to vilify him as TEH SATAN even if they observe a few sensible accounting practices.
