Re: Obama XV: Now, with 20% more rage

See, that laminated card libs carry around in their wallets does double duty. On one side, the list of Republicans "too stupid to be president." On the other, words libs throw into an argument when they're getting their butts kicked--which is nearly all the time.

Words like: "Racist," "Sexist," "Homophobe," "Islamophobe."

Sooo much easier than thinking. There are way too many libs who would be struck mute if they couldn't smear people with those words, and others.

that last line was one of the funniest (and I feel true) lines I've ever read on here:D

I'm sorry but the people who are organizing and participating in this burn a quran day are cut from the same stone as those who want to build the mosque. They are just doing it to inflame the whole situation.

I'm sure they're just making a point about fanatical fundamentalists and would fully support a "burn a Bible a day" protest. :p

sure beats complaining about fundamentalists who hang women from goalposts.

This is my thinking exactly. Conservative extremism is conservative extremism no matter whether its in Kabul or Lakeville. IMO you have to be unhappy with this comment under two situations...if you are waay too hung up on the conservative label or it hits a little too close to home. Its all about raising tensions in order to become more important in some way.

Re: Obama XV: Now, with 20% more rage

On the drug front...we had a bit of a discussion maybe 2 months ago on another thread...the idea that if drugs were legal we'd improve crime and spend less money as a government has not been proven as far as I've seen...sure we might have fewer DEA agents, we could have them become Coroners or domestic violence counselors. Let's say that 5% of the people use illegal drugs now...what would that % be if drugs were legal? Would drug related crimes increase at the same rate or exponentially?

Would there be no increase in government expenditure in addiction counseling, treatment centers, crime etc if drugs were legal? Would there be no negative effects on school performance, dropout rates and workplace productivity?

It's already a problem that we have drunk drivers killing people, now we more people under the influence of drugs on the road too?

Aside from the folks at Doritos and Taco Bell, I can't see who benefits from more addictive drugs being made available to US citizens.

Most drug related crime is associated with people procurement of the drugs, not the actual use. I think that is where you'd see the drop in crime.

Look at prohibition in the 20's. Once that went away most of the crime associated with alcohol went away.
