I'm in the same boat. Gopher fan first, but Minnesota Hockey is in my blood. Gotta support the other Minnesota schools too. Loved seeing the Dogs bring home their first championship!

They are still the University of Minnesota - Duluth Campus so I will always support them second after the Gophs. Was happy to see them win it last season. Good luck to them this season and I hope they own the NACHO league when it starts.

Funny how that works. I think there is far more hatred of the Gophers by fans of the other MN schools than there is vice-versa. I don't look at it as pity, but state pride. That's just how I feel anyways.

For me, I always cheer against rivals. I don't want them to have bragging rights over my team. So I would root against St. Cloud, BSU, MSU or UMTC in the NCAA's. Of course Gopher fans would feel differently if this was our 4th or 5th title.

Don't blame you. It's different for everyone. I guess I am more of a Minnesota Hockey guy than anything else

It might be a generational thing too. I believe my generation roots against teams more, where as others in older generations would root for the conference.

I usually like it when the WCHA wins against non-conference foes, except maybe UND.

I have always liked Duluth. I wanted to go there really badly. Too bad they didn't want me. But I don't have the same hatred for tDogs as I do for Cloud, Bemidji, or Kato. Once the game starts between tDogs and the Gophers I am a Gopher fan. But I did get booed in the student section at Mariucci for lifting up my Gopher jersey to reveal a Dogs t-shirt after tDogs scored a goal. lol

For me, it's not that I cheer against the University or the school. I don't mind UMTC, I don't mind St. Cloud. I cheer against their fan bases. I cheer against St. Cloud because I know if they win more games than us, I'll hear it. If they win games in the postseason, I'll hear it. It's that kind of overbearing confidence that makes me dislike the teams. If it weren't for that, I would have no problem cheering for St. Cloud when they played out of state teams. I'm all for state pride, that's why I cheer for Bemidji, or Mankato. But I'm not going to cheer for St. Cloud when I know them winning will just get thrown in my face. And I'm not saying this about every person in the fan base, because frankly most of the people on here have legitimate points and just want to talk hockey and take pride in their team. But those fan bases always has someone that ruins it for me.

I hear ya. Every fan base has them. I think the resentment has grown more intense as more MN schools have made the jump to D1, and the fact they all play in the same conference too.

Hey anybody out there know about b2 and ordering the game. Typically when I have done this with other teams, I can't actually order the game until moments before it starts. However, I don't see the $8 order, only the monthly $30 fee. Any suggestions? Just be patient?

The second PP goal was hilarious! Puck flies in the air, TWO ND players jump for it, but they both miss. Puck falls to Jack who passes to JT and scores! Best. Defensive breakdown. Ever.

UMD looked fantastic last night, except for Rieter returning to his old shaky self. Hopefully they'll show tonight that it wasn't just the emotion of the night. I'm a St. Cloud and UMD fan and I'll root for any WCHA team in non-conference and the NCAAs except Wisconsin and North Dakota. I'm also a big Gopher fan for all other D1 sports.

I am a UM grad, but my tax dollars support all college hockey teams in the State. Most of my tax dollars are ****ed down the drain by our idiot politicians, but at least we have hockey.

No. I wanted UMD to beat BG even though the Gophers hadn't done squat since '79. Yes UMD still had 0 titles at the time but do bragging rights really mean that much to people? If that's the case fans of teams with 0 titles should have folded tent years ago, including UMD fans up until last April. But in reality it doesn't mean anything and that's why fans remain loyal despite the failures.
