The atmosphere is going to have been awful because ND was never in the game.

Get ND in the game, and if the band is there with a half-decent number of students, then the atmosphere will be worth checking out.

Nice win tonight for you guys, very shocking to say the least. Stay clear of those formula rankings until after the new year when they have a chance to work themselves out and when the schedules around the country start to even themselves out a bit more. You certainly have an interesting team to say the least.

Again, 3 prior pages of banter, prior to the outcome rankings mean nothing...NU has one of the best goalies in the country and can play hockey with anyone. NU lost some top signed recruits to BC and the AHL when Cronin left to go coach the Maple Leafs, you add those kids back into the mix of this team and you could argue that this team would be a very ranked team in terms of the formulas. So what has happened was that NU had a patchwork of kids and some newbie’s who had never played together at the start of the season, and NU struggled, yet still had 2 OT looses to BC and a tie at Merrimack! Now, they are getting comfortable and their top line is as good as any team in the country. I will still say that last nights games was of course, not a measuring stick just a bad night of ND. However, welcome to hockey east, where on any given night you can get beat by a bunch of unknown, not ranked kids primarily for New England with a smattering of overlooked Canadians who want to beat a top team. I look for a close match up on Sunday. However, if they win on Sunday. Look for them to be ranked on Tuesday!

Happily, you have changed your evaluation of our team.:)
Personally, I thought that a meaningful result from that early outburst was the fact that we kept up the pressure through the rest of the game and didn't sit back and try to kill the clock. If we had not shown up for the third period, we might have won 6-4 or 6-5, but it would have felt almost like a loss. The feelings of accomplishment would have been cold and fuzzless, and ND would have all of the momentum coming into TONIGHT'S game. I would be thrilled with a sweep. I couldn't care less where they're ranked. Of course if Merrimack and bu lose tonight, a top 10 ranking would seem appropriate.:rolleyes:

What a weekend for the Dogs. They proved a lot tonight- Notre Dame was hungry after last night, they scored a big PP goal in a tied 3rd period game and they played great defensive hockey the last 10 minutes. Very exciting but need to keep it going in HE play against Lowell next weekend at Matthews.

And a nice weekend it IS for the Huskies. A SWEEP for crying out loud. Can't believe it. And I got to watch this one. It was not a fluke. NU played well. The D was terrific, and kept the Irish from getting many good shots. Great hustle, terrific goaltending. I'm impressed, as I'm sure Notre Dame is as well.

9-2 last night, and 2-1 tonight. The best part was, you could tell by the way they were playing that they were going to win. I never got that feeling, even when they were down earlier in the game, that they were going to lose. From their body language on the ice, you could just see that they were going to win this... and they did.

It's a poor feed but I hooked the lap top up to my TV.. it wasn't too bad. Nice win, Nice job Hiskies and Coach M, but 4 stars to CW..he was the differance tonight. If you saw it, 3 stright road wins agains the CCHA, I can't recall and in looking the records, that this has ever happened before, and Merrimack lost again to PC. We are going to be in it and since MMc has been sidelined I think Quailer has been lights out looking like a HABS top draft pick!

What an unbelieveable weekend. Past 2 weekends really. It looks like things are finally starting to come together. Earlier, we would play good teams (BC, MC) very tough and close but lose that 1 goal game, now we seem to be playing differently. I'm really hopeful we can keep it up. Great weekend fellas, keep up the good work and take it to UML next weekend. We need those HE points!

It would be a great Christmas present to be .500 on the 25th after starting out 1-7-2.

I've been his biggest critic but what a couple weekends for Veermersch. 6 points in his last 4 games and it seems like he has stopped trying to play "And 1 hockey" and instead is making the smart play consistently.

Wow. I just had this amazing dream about Northeastern sweeping the Irish--the #2 team in the nation--at South Bend. But it couldn't possibly have happened since there's no mention of it in any of the USCHO headlines and recaps this morning. Plenty of coverage about some backup duffelbag from Chestnut Hill though.

I'm as excited as anyone but we still have a ways to go. Hockey East, other than UVM, looks very tough this year. I saw UML against UNH on Friday. They won't be easy. They're not big but very quick and much better than last years team at keeping pucks out of the slot.

I'm still in shock from checking the college hockey news scoreboard when up at Tsongas on Friday night and seeing NU 6 ND 0!!!

A couple of weeks ago I watched Notre Dame play BC on television and saw exactly why everyone was hyped up on them. They skated well, controlled the play and had plenty of scoring chances. To be honest, I never expected NU to go and sweep them in their barn. I think this weekend demonstrates just how good this team can be if they play consistent, disciplined hockey. It should be interesting to see how they respond next weekend against UMass Lowell who is also riding a nice winning streak. GO HUSKIES!!

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! I was SHOCKED that nary a mention was given to this anywhere. There wasn't even a recap posted (perhaps in response to the criticism USCHO got for the crappy "recap" they wrote for the 9-2 shellacking the night before). What an insult.

What does this team have to do to get props from the USCHO hockey establishment? I'm not talking "Huge upset of the year" headlines, but it's got to at least get a MENTION somewhere. Instead, all we hear about is BU-BC, or Quinnipiac-RPI... sure, both good games for the winners, but nowhere near the type of surprise that NU's sweep of ND was. Not even close.

I just don't understand it. I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch of the imagination, but this seems like it would HAVE to be a conscious decision to leave out any mention, and to not even write a recap.

But maybe this is better. Maybe this will say to NU that they STILL have to keep working their butts off to get respect and recognition. Maybe this will keep the fire in their bellies and keep them hungry for MORE. Maybe this will inoculate them from becoming full of themselves and complacent.

For my part, I'll keep rooting for the Hounds, no matter what. GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!
