Not so ez????

Re: Not so ez????

You're basing it on the fact they lost to Merrimack? Seriously? Your two brains cells must really enjoy talking with eachother.
I'm basing it on seeing the teams play 3 games. 2 brain cells - boy that is a good comeback! I think I'll refer your future posts to my 5 year old so you can have a conversation with an equal.

Re: Not so ez????

Oh, that explains it an ECAC fan.... A bottom dweller having a better then average single season, and becoming ranked gets translated and stretched into a top tier team? It all makes perfect sense now. FYI, yes you sound just like the MC fans, and Yale fans for that matter.
Yes I'm happy that RPI seems to be turning a corner. Thanks for noticing! If you look closely at what I've said though... I've made no comments regarding who is "a top tier team in the NCAA". If you'd like to know my opinion, I'll give it. I think the jury is out on Yale and we won't know anything until the tournament. This is pretty obvious of course and not really worth posting.

Re: Not so ez????

Winning all your games against weak teams does not make you a weak team. Losing them would, but Yale isn't doing that. And by the way, Yale has been a very good team for three consecutive years, and so far this looks like their best team ever. People aren't just claiming they're a top team because they beat Holy Cross. They're saying it because they've seen Yale play 13 games and Yale looks really, really good.

I can kind of understand if people said they couldn't know for sure who was the best team in the country because not all the best teams have played one another enough yet. But to categorically claim that Yale ISN'T the best team because of the games the've actually WON, or that Yale CAN'T be the best team because they're in the ECAC, is just plain ridiculous. Saying that there's no way they could beat Team X or Team Y in the NCAA tournament is even more ridiculous.

Whoever the best team in the country might be, if not Yale, if they played Yale's schedule there's an excellent chance they'd be . . . oh, 12-1 right now. Yale is performing just as any #1 team should be expected to with their schedule. I don't know if they're the best team, but you can't reasonably say they aren't based just on the quality of the opponents they're beating. Or on what a completely different Cornell team did 5 years ago.

Vermont looked really really good to...when they played the US National University Team.

Yale has a good team and no one is arguing that. Most people are simply pointing out its hard to consider them the "BEST" considering their schedule. This would have gone away after 5-10 posts except the crazy Eli's keep putting up these stupid threads....

Yale skating Circles around the WCHA...
Yale the best team in hockey ???
Not so EZ ??

Sorry but "huge" wins against UAH ?? A loss to BC (moral win) that was missing 4 players ??

The arrogance and absurdity is what keeps it chugging along. It's no difference then argument with BC fans all off season... their arrogance drives most of it, difference is the results actually back them up. (ssshhhhh don't tell them I said that)

Re: Not so ez????

And as soon as BC loses again, then all of the folks from HE will say that one of their other teams is one of the best two. First it was BU. Then UNH. Now BC. I think even Maine was up there at some point. I'm just waiting for Merrimack's turn since, and I'm serious when I say this, they are as good as all of the others.

Simple question for you...do you think BC is one of the top teams in the country?

Re: Not so ez????

until someone comes in and dominates Yale or beats them, they are number one and that is it. Just because some people say they aren't doesn't change the number 1 next to there name on the sheet that gives the rankings.

Again that sheet means nothing come tourniment time. In April we will see who the last team is standing and if it is yale than All those Yalies can say told ya so. Till then lets stop all the crap and just wait.

It will be a great story for the ECAC and Yale if they can do it though.

Have a great day everyone

Yes. Top 8 - somewhere between 1 and 8. I just don't think it makes any sense to sit here and claim that any team is one of the best 2 in the country - which in a way is what I was originally trying to say. For evidence please see BU, UNO, UNH and some of the other folks previously ranked at the top of the polls. Today, I'm not sure that those 3 teams are even going to be in the top 10 at the end of the year.

Go ahead and short sell Boston College. That's a brilliant move. You'll just end up with smudged fanboy facepaint due to tears in the end as usual. Dismiss the 2 wins at Denver and focus on Merrimack. You are truly a genius.

JD, dont waste your breath. He's a typical BU fanboy who will never give BC credit for anything. This Eagles team is going to be murder come postseason like they always are. He's whistling by the graveyard if he feels otherwise.

OK, I happen to think BC is one of the top four or so teams in the country and will prove that down the line. Your overall point is right in that there's a lot of hockey to be played, but there's still opinions to be had. An example is even with BU's great start, I still thought they were always the 4th best team in Hockey East. That is starting to show. Coming into this year, a lot was made of BC and UND--I think that's now starting to show.

If you put a gun to my head and said rank your top three teams, I go:

1. BC
2. Yale
3. UND

My five year old wants me to tell you that we're not fans of BU either. Since Krieder if from our hometown, we'd like to be able to root for BC but frankly we've found it hard to appreciate the chippy play of your bevy of leprechaun forwards.

No serious qualms with this since they are all strong teams. I've not seen enough of the western teams to know which are strongest so I couldn't guess as to whether the East teams are better this year or not. Just glad there is a tournament to decide it although I wish they would make the first 2 rounds 2 out of 3. That way we could be more certain that the best 4 make it to the FF and we also would avoid an off week between regionals and the FF.

Yea, it is so tough to root for Jerry York and his high-flying teams!!!!

I agree. Best 2 out of 3 would give ECAC teams an even slimmer chance of making the Frozen Four via a 1-game fluke and rightful teams that belong would be more likely to advance. I think this is a great idea.

Then again, ECAC teams aren't really making a lot of FFs right now so maybe the 1 and done format works.

Don't care how it impacts ECAC or anyone else. Just think it would be better.

I'd rather see 2 out of 3 in the semis and/or finals but that's just me. At least I felt that way in April 2007! :D

Let's get back on topic. The EZAC is a bad hockey conference and will continue to claim otherwise and then fall on its face in the NCAAs.

Where did you learn about hockey?
