Norwich Hockey - Time to Regroup

Molu did come up huge! Great shootout goal by Bertand too!

What does this do for the standings? I don't know how the new fangled points system works.

My random and frustrated observation from today is that there must have been 20 shots sent high and wide. Gotta hit the net!

Tied for second or third, depending on how you like to read it.
Either way, I would say it was a wasted opportunity. And yes, he played well in OT and shootout, but 5 goals in 5 minutes by both goalies in the second? SMH

Tough game but happy to force a shootout against you guys. Plymouth had it on lock early and interrupts Norwich’s system as long as it’s a good night for the team. Was also trying to figure out the points, and think it it goes as a 2pt SO W for Norwich and a 1pt tie for Plymouth. Couldn’t find the official info anywhere if anyone who knows wants to chime in.

Edit: Both teams get a 1pt tie on their record - Norwich gets +1 for the SO W officially.

from LEC website:
  • Three (3) points for a win in regulation.
  • Two (2) points for a win in overtime, or shootout win.
  • One (1) point for a loss in overtime, or shootout loss.

Disappointed to get 2 points when 3 were right there for the taking.

Benjamin and Foster impressed me the most tonight.
Fancy was phenomenal defensively in OT.
Molu once again comes up BIG when it matters most.
D’Ancona will be a star; with him and Benjamin both being frosh there is speed and skill to build around.
Fun fact for the board: Benjamin is in the Corps. This year’s team has TWO! cadets on the roster (Schubert).

I expect to see Spidey in net tomorrow.

Need to put the boots to UMD.

I posted this on Little East thread, but reposting here…
reat to see Benjamin rewarded with a goal after what he had to endure during the game.
Excellent start of game, although the third goal eluded them a lot longer than I had hoped for.
A few things to clean up, but trending well.

I'll be there! But I'm just one old guy. The real question is will the students show up ?
The student athletes of other teams have really been showing up in large numbers the last few games; remains to be seen if the other students will come out. I hear there are some cool things planned for Military Appreciation Night tonight which might help.

HUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEE game today. We need this number one seed for the inaugural LEC Tourney!

I agree with Krbflint that winning the league is a must or it'd be a disapointment. Getting to the NCAAs in year one would be really big for recruiting for Dawes.

It was a great day! Very excited for them to get that win and take control in the new league!

I think we'll see a rematch in a few weeks.
A gritty performance in a game where they were outplayed for long stretches. A good demonstration that hard work can be its own reward.
And a great crowd on a very cold day as well, proof that the fans are still in the area.
One complaint that I’ll name and not explain-concessions.

I agree with your complaint and also won't explain

Flint, aside from the win, your impressions from the Babson game? Is NU’s play sustainable against the better teams? How far will their “hard work” take them?

Bog, I was there at the white out, I can tell you this... Long story short its over. This is the peak of Norwich hockey. It's all over. This team can not beat anyone. Oh wait nevermind they just swept this weekend like they have their past 4 weekends. They also sit in first place in conference in prime position to make a strong run for the LEC title and make the NCAA tournament. This team is trending sharply in the right direction but yeah it so over.

It seems like the league change coupled with the coaching change have given this program a shot in the arm this year. Plenty of hockey left to be played and a first round or semifinal exit would be a major disappointment given how the season has been trending the last few weeks.

The road to the LEC runs through Kreitzberg barring a collapse!

Bog - I know he’s no Flint, but my wife’s boyfriend said the cadets were lights out last night. Reminded him of the McShane years. I might even tune in next weekend if he lets me.
