My understanding is that it was trending in the right direction (financial aid in general, to include international) this spring and something abruptly went sour in the last month or so. As I've posted before whether it was time for Ellsworth to move on or not won't matter if Norwich is not competitive with aid.I was under the impression that international financial aid issues have been resolved??-or was that just a rumor
Fancy is, allegedly, LEGIT. Plus a transfer with proven scoring ability at the college level.Recruiting class looks boring…
Gen Broadmeadow works for the trustees. The trustees set policy. The trustees are happy with something right now that no one else is.I thought Broadmeadow committed to ensuring ample resources would be made available. They don’t understand that winning programs are gifts that keep on giving.
I wasn’t implying that you didn't, so save the snark please. I was just stating that his hands are tied to an extent. As long as the board values revenue increases over the benefits of successful athletics, there is a very firm ceiling, IMO. One person has the ability to hamstring athletics, and as long as that person is in place, the outlook isn't great. Dawes is a good coach who works his ass off so time will tell how far he can take the Cadets.I understand the chain of command, thanks. What’s concerning is that he seemingly lacks the ability to influence and build coalitions among the Board. Here we go, again…
The way you articulated your theory makes sense. We’ll have to see what sort of magic Dawe’s can conjure up. If he continues to be misled, he may not stick around too long. There may be one or two exceptions, but Norwich coaching positions are typically not destination jobs. Norwich can only afford to hire journeyman high school coaches and ADs.I wasn’t implying that you didn't, so save the snark please. I was just stating that his hands are tied to an extent. As far as your last sentence, that’s been what I’ve been trying to get across for two years. Whether Ellsworth was the problem or not can remain up for debate, but if top prospects can't afford/won't pay for Norwich it doesn't matter who is behind the bench. The more I reflect on the last few years of the Ellsworth era, I believe more and more that he played defensive, "boring" hockey because he knew they didn't match up talent-wise every weekend and was doing what he could to give the team the best chance to win. Maybe I'm wrong, but it is what it is.
